In 2023, BCNC embarked on strategic planning process, engaging key stakeholders to reaffirm a commitment to our mission.?As we move forward, BCNC remains a trusted resource, supporting new immigrants, especially Asians, with the resources they need to thrive in the United States. This process marks the beginning of a new chapter. BCNC has grown from a small community initiative in Boston Chinatown into an organization offering a broad range of holistic, family-centered programs and services. With deep roots in Boston's Chinatown, we reach 13,000 children, youth, and adults each year across three locations in Greater Boston, setting them up for success in school, work, and life. We also build vibrant communities through Pao Arts Center and our collaborations and research efforts.? In the coming months, we look forward to sharing stories from this new chapter - stories that highlight the impact we make on children as they grow with us into adults, the ways we strengthen family well-being, the opportunities we create to amplify the voices of Boston Chinatown, and our expansion beyond Chinatown. We also will share stories about the partnerships we are building and the research and advocacy we engage in to drive systemic change for our community. We are excited to introduce a new logo that reflects this new chapter. The updated design builds on our original logo, which featured a house with the Chinese character for “person” as the roof. The new logo features multiple stacked roofs that point upward, symbolizing the limitless potential of those we serve. The multiple roofs represent: - Community – We impact many individuals, families, and communities.? - Continual Growth – We serve different ages, and we see families grow through our programs.? - Multiple Locations – We have expanded to multiple locations. Thank you for being a part of BCNC’s journey. We are grateful for your continued support and look forward to sharing more with you soon! ? Special thanks to Tammy Tai, Zamawa Arenas of Flowetik, and Sarah Rainwater of Studio Rainwater for their guidance into BCNC’s latest chapter.

Since 2022, BCNC has been a proud member of Chinatown HOPE, a collective of Chinatown organizations with the aim of coming together to leverage and build upon existing assets to have a greater, lasting impact on working class residents in Boston Chinatown. Partners included: Asian Community Development Corporation, BCNC/Pao Arts Center, Chinatown Resident Association, Chinatown Community Land Trust, Chinatown Main Street, Chinese Progressive Association - CPA Boston, Rose F. Kennedy Greenway Conservancy and Josiah Quincy Elementary School. At the end of October, community partners, collaborators, supporters, facilitators, and evaluators came together to celebrate the culmination of this work. Together over the past 2 years, Chinatown HOPE provided 73 residents opportunities to explore green space in their neighborhood and beyond. It reached over 3,000 people with creative wellness activities and deepened the partnerships and collaborations of the community partners. HOPE efforts amplified the need for more open space in Chinatown and created shared language, momentum, and coordination for advocacy. Chinatown HOPE was funded by Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Community-based Health Initiative to decrease social isolation and increase community cohesion by activating open space in Chinatown through arts and cultural programming, gardening, and resident leadership development. We’re proud to mark a decade of service to the Quincy community! Since opening our doors, we have: - Impacted the lives of over 10,000 participants, - Taught hundreds of adult immigrants through five levels of English classes, - Engaged 100 parents in a 10-week Parenting Journey course, - Empowered youth with leadership training, college access, and employment support, and - Welcomed thousands to our annual Family Fun Fair. We are not stopping there! In 2024-2025, we are: - Expanding our youth leadership programs, - Launching new workforce initiatives, - Building partnerships in community wellness, and - Opening a mental health clinic to enhance accessible care. On October 30th, we hosted an amazing 10th Anniversary Celebration that included an Open House and Reception with staff, partners, and community members. It was a time of vibrant conversations, activities, and new connections as we shared our vision for the future. Guests met staff, engaged in collaborative activities, and learned about programs during the Open House. During the reception, guests heard from Ben Hires, CEO, about BCNC’s journey and future plans. Quincy City Councilor Nina Liang shared about BCNC’s important role and impact in Quincy. We also celebrated the incredible Sau Cai of Pho Pasteur, BCNC supporter and landlord, whose story is a true testament to resilience and community strength. Yan Liang is the Family Engagement Coordinator at the BCNC Acorn Center for Early Education and Care, where she actively supports immigrant families. Yan was a recipient of a scholarship from Stanley Chen, a BCNC Legacy Donor while she was volunteering at BCNC. Inspired by mentors like Stanley Chen, after earning her master’s degree in early childhood education from UMass Boston, she returned to BCNC to give back to the community that helped her thrive. "I want to emphasize the importance of giving back and supporting one another. I am who I am today because of the support I received from Mr. Chen, Dr. Peter Kiang, and others in my community. Their kindness inspired me to help immigrant families find their voices and navigate their challenges. As I continue to bloom in my career, I hope to plant seeds of hope and support for others, just as I was supported." - Yan shared. Read more about Yan's story here: https://lnkd.in/ezfnzKSe

Kayla's Journey: Turning a Passion for Public Health into Community Impact Community Health Impact training programs aren’t just educational- they are transformative! This resonates deeply with Kayla Tat, a student at our current AWFH Community Health Impact Training, who values the genuine commitment of the program to building long-term, impactful careers in public health. “I can see the organization genuinely cares about creating real career paths for us. The training is so professional and interactive, with dedicated support in building resumes and other tools that set us up for success," shares Kayla. Initially driven by a desire to promote health and learn more about public health, Kayla wishes to focus on community impact and youth health education. Through this training, she's expanding her knowledge on social determinants of health and gaining the practical experience needed to be an effective CHW, ready to make a difference at a community level!
