Some even implied conceded or arrogant. However, I can understand how CONFIDENCE can be confused in that way. While both "cocky" and "confident" can seem similar, the key difference is that a confident person has a genuine belief in their abilities and is comfortable with themselves. On November 8, 2024, Bexar County Department of Military and Veterans Services attended and participated in the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) held its annual Stand Down event in San Antonio, Texas. This initiative is dedicated to supporting homeless and at-risk veterans by providing access to essential services and resources. The Stand Down event featured participation from over 50 community agencies offering a wide range of services, including medical and dental care, hot meals, clothing distribution, medical examinations, flu vaccinations, haircuts, and legal assistance through a community court. These comprehensive services aim to address the immediate needs of veterans and facilitate their reintegration into the community. A notable aspect of the event was the Women’s Pavilion, organized by the Women Veterans of San Antonio (WVSA). This dedicated space provided homeless and at-risk women veterans with feminine hygiene products, clothing, and other essential items. The pavilion also offered a supportive environment for women veterans to connect and access tailored resources. The annual Stand Down event underscores NVOP’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by homeless veterans, offering them vital support and services to promote stability and self-sufficiency. The week has an amazing example of what collaboration between partners truly looks like. My week started at the Red, White, and You resource fair(photos previously posted). Then I had the opportunity to attend the VA Stakeholders Meeting held by Audi Murphy. Later in the day, I attended Veterans Day events held at VFW Post 76 and at Centre Club. Friday I attended the GI Forum Veteran Stand Down along with other partners. Finally, I attend the Heart and Stroke run/walk ending the day with a Longhorn win!!!
