Read Together Daily – Just 10 minutes a day strengthens vocabulary & comprehension. ?? Choose Books That Reflect Our Children – Representation matters! ??? Black History Moment: Marian Wright Edelman & The Children’s Defense Fund (1973-Present) ??? Marian Wright Edelman founded the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) because she knew that advocacy was the key to change. For decades, CDF has been a leading voice in child welfare, education, and racial equity. Key Contributions: ? Advocated for policies to support Black children’s education, healthcare, and welfare. ? Created the Freedom Schools Program, inspired by the Civil Rights Movement, to provide culturally empowering education. ? Pushed for laws that protect Black children from poverty, discrimination, and systemic barriers. ?? BCDI Atlanta continues this legacy of advocacy by championing policies and initiatives that put Black children FIRST. ?? Our children’s futures depend on the work we do today.
