On February 13, 2025, BCC Engineering team members Kathy Lajo and Michelle Brioso Rossi, P.E. took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Baywalk Pedestrian Bridge over 5th Street in South Beach. This vibrant, kaleidoscopic walkway will connect the South of 5th Baywalk to Alton Road, enhancing mobility and adding a striking visual element to the city skyline as it rises 40 feet above 5th Street. Designed to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists, the bridge will offer a seamless connection along the city's Baywalk. Renderings courtesy of Arquitectonica.

  • BCC staff attended the final hearing for the Doral International Towers at the Trump National in Doral. BCC is the lead civil and traffic engineer on the planned 20-story towers. The project consists of nearly 1,500 residential units, a 470 key hotel, and nearly 150K square feet of commercial space. BCC looks forward to continued engagement on the project as we move into detailed design. This will create opportunities for multiple divisions within BCC. Congratulations to the entire technical team!

  • BCC Engineering is pleased to be part of the Moving I-4 Forward Accelerated Start Project Segments A & B for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This project is a critical step in addressing congestion on I-4, adding an additional lane in each direction from east of U.S. 27 to west of World Drive. It also includes the reconstruction of portions of I-4 through the CR 532 interchange at Champions Gate, as well as at the World Drive interchange, preparing the corridor for future improvements under FDOT’s Moving I-4 Forward program. Our team will lead the design efforts for roadway, structures, drainage, utility coordination, utility design, signing and pavement marking, ITS, lighting, and signalization. We are honored to contribute to this important infrastructure project and support FDOT in laying the groundwork for the future of the I-4 corridor.

  • This week, members of our BCC Engineering team along with peers from Parsons attended the Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA) 2025 Construction Symposium at the Signia Orlando Bonnet Creek. This premier event brought together industry leaders, innovators, and professionals to discuss the latest in transportation construction, featuring insightful sessions, a dynamic exhibit hall, and valuable networking opportunities. At BCC Engineering, we are committed to staying at the forefront of the industry, and events like this provide an excellent platform to engage with peers, exchange knowledge, and explore emerging trends that shape the future of transportation in Florida. A huge thank you to FTBA for organizing such a fantastic event! We look forward to applying the insights gained and continuing to contribute to building a more connected and resilient infrastructure.

BCC’s Cory Salzano, P.E., FRSE, and Bob Forand, PE, were recently invited to present to the Steel Bridge Task Force to share insights on Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) used at the I-95 Express Lanes – Phase 3C Design-Build project, focusing on Bridge 18 at the I-95/SR 84 Interchange. The session highlighted the project’s structural challenges, innovative solutions, and the successful pivot to ABC to improve efficiency, maximize safety, and minimize traffic disruptions. By leveraging self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs), the team reduced construction time by six months, fast-tracking project delivery. This project underscores BCC’s expertise in complex bridge engineering, our commitment to delivering resilient infrastructure, and using "outside the box" thinking to accomplish the project goals.
