I’m proud to share my contribution to the Proceedings of the 2024 WES-CIHE Summer Institute, published by the Boston College Center for International Higher Education (CIHE). My paper, "The Ecuadorian State's Concept of and Representations Around Higher Education: Forty Years of a Roller Coaster," examines the transformations in public policies and representations of universities in Ecuador since the return to democracy. It was an honor to be part of this global initiative alongside outstanding contributors and to spend a transformative week in Boston, MA, with CIHE. I am especially grateful for the invaluable support of the WES-CIHE Summer Institute and the inspiring mentorship of scholars like Gerardo Blanco Esther T. Benjamin Rebecca Schendel I highly recommend this program to anyone passionate about higher education. #IEW2024

Congratulations to Daniel álvarez Cadena and his team for the successful completion of this process. Unach has been an example of dedication and commitment from the university leadership. With the sponsorship of the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Quito, the convening power of the Red Ecuatoriana de Internacionalización de la Educación Superior (REIES), the generous hospitality of Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, and the ACE Futures Lab leadership, R. McKenna Brown, Erin Baldwin and I are delivering a workshop on strategic planning for internationalization.
