Meet Big Brothers Darius and Christopher, and Little Brothers Karter and Khai! Twins Karter and Khai share everything, from their daily adventures to the special moments spent with their Big Brothers, Darius and Christopher. Big Brother Darius and Little Brother Karter have been matched for over a year, and Darius shares, “It has honestly been life-changing for me.” Karter agrees, saying, “The best part about having a big brother is having someone to go places with and try new things.” Meanwhile, Big Brother Christopher and Little Brother Khai have forged a unique bond. Christopher reflects, “Being a Big Brother is more than just showing up—it’s about being a constant source of encouragement, guidance, and friendship.” For Khai, the experience has been equally rewarding. He values having someone to hang out with and talk to, and he’s learning valuable friendship-building skills from Christopher. The twins' mother is grateful for the impact of the BBBS program. She notes that the close relationship between Karter and Khai, along with their Big Brothers’ positive influence, not only supports their academic goals but also fosters their social development. As a single mother, she appreciates the expanded support network that BBBS provides, which has truly made a difference in their lives.

What do you love most about Miami? “I love the diversity of cultures in Miami, and more than anything, I love its geography, which provides proximity to the Caribbean.” How do you like to spend your weekends? “I love gardening, and it’s something I do regularly. Watching plants grow and evolve represents the intersection of life and art for me, and it also relaxes me. Going to concerts has become one of my new favorite activities, and I definitely enjoy spending time with family and friends.” Can you share something about yourself that would surprise most people? “People are often surprised by how observant I am.” What do you enjoy most about working for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami? “I love the impact this organization has on the lives of children. Growing up without mentors, I was personally affected, and I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible difference that positive mentors can make in enriching the lives of our youth.”
