For anyone who is getting customer utility data out of Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) their website is down this morning. Plan accordingly in your customer workflows! The homepage will load but when you click the "Sign in" button for customers - then you'll see the downtime. Direct link to the PG&E page in the comments #utilitydata #meterdata #greenbutton
Upcoming downtime for the First Energy Utilities this week. Make sure you're prepared!
????Big changes coming to the 10 First Energy Utilities' websites this week including downtime, password changes and added multi-factor authentication This upcoming Friday (March 7th) there will be scheduled maintenance for the First Energy utilities - if you're getting meter data for customers at these utilities you'll need to prepare: 1. Jersey Central Power and Light 2. Metropolitan Edison 3. Mon Power 4. Ohio Edison 5. Penelec 6. Penn Power 7. Potomac Edison 8. The Illuminating Company 9. Toledo Edison 10. West Penn Power Expected changes include: - All customers needing to change their password - New optional multi-factor authentication for customer login - Likely changes to website structure / possibly bills ?? We're delighted to have?Kari Klein?join Bayou Energy full-time. Kari was our absolute first choice candidate and personifies the type of climate motivated human and world class engineer we were looking for to join our team. Based in Boulder, CO, Kari has worked at Google,?Tapestry, an energy startup spun out of Google's X, the moonshot factory and co-founded her own climate startup in the methane monitoring space before joining us at Bayou. Outside of work she likes to gravel and mountain bike, hike, kayak and generally enjoy the mountains. She also likes fermenting beer, vegan yogurt and cheese.

This is a Kalen Luciano appreciation post! Joris Van Hecke and I welcomed Kalen as our first employee and engineer at Bayou Energy - he's a full-stack software engineer with a passion for building tech to address the climate crisis. In his first year at Bayou, Kalen has helped expand our utility support to 60% of the US population and further develop our API for instant and reliable utility data. Kalen's passion for climate extends beyond his work. Outside of coding, he enjoys exploring his new home in Chicago by foot, bike, and public transit, advocating for safer and sustainable cities, and discovering the city's vibrant culinary scene with his friends. Over the last 2 years Joris Van Hecke and I have met with 250 climate companies and they've all had a common problem. Whether they were deploying solar, EV's, batteries or heat pumps it was essential to access utility data - the source of truth for energy cost and usage. Their engineers needed an easy to use API that returns data in seconds, their end consumers needed to be able to instantly authenticate their utility accounts and the entire product needed friendly pricing and the ability to get started without a sales call. Today I'm proud to launch Bayou Energy - an API that gives companies access to any metered utility data instantly. I'm humbled to be working with some awesome climate companies: - ??
