The Futures Summit, led by the California Community College Chancellor's Office in partnership with Foothill-De Anza Community College District, is dedicated to exploring the rapidly changing landscape of workforce development in the age of emerging technologies. This year, we dive deep into Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential to transform how we work, learn, and engage with the world.
Meet Our Esteemed Speakers:
Chancellor Sonya Christian: A fierce advocate for the transformative power of community colleges in reaching underserved populations and educating the future workforce. She is committed to advancing work through distributed leadership and collaborative learning communities, promoting equity in student learning, access, success, and economic mobility.
Dr. Safiya Noble: A UCLA Professor and Director of the Center on Race & Digital Justice, Dr. Noble is celebrated for her expertise in algorithmic bias and digital equity. Her influential book, “Algorithms of Oppression”, has driven important global discussions on AI ethics. Her pioneering work has earned her the NAACP-Archewell Digital Civil Rights Award.
Beth Rudden: A prominent figure in ethical AI and digital transformation, Beth Rudden is the founder of Bast AI, where she advocates for responsible AI practices. With a strong background in IT and cognitive science, and through her book, “AI for the Rest of Us”, Beth is dedicated to making AI technologies accessible and fair.
The Futures Summit will unite visionaries, educators, and government officials for a one-day summit addressing AI’s impact on the workplace. The conference supports the goals of?Vision 2030, Chancellor Sonya Christian’s plan to address technological and environmental changes facing our communities. The plan holistically addresses the needs of nearly 2 million students the California Community Colleges educates every year, and their future efforts.
