Which employees expect to be using artificial intelligence on the job in the future? At least half of U.S. workers believe gaining AI skills will help their careers progress, according to the latest findings of LinkedIn’s Workforce Confidence survey — and just under third of workers expressed doubt that AI will have much impact on their jobs in the future. The survey found that the youngest and oldest employees have more doubts about AI impacting their jobs. Meanwhile, mid-career employees are more likely to be focused on upskilling right now in response to advances in AI. Four in ten Gen Zers said they doubted AI would impact their roles, followed by 36% of baby boomers. Just 29% of millennials and Gen Xers agreed. When it comes to gaining AI skills to further their careers, mid-career millennials are leading the charge; 54% agreed, followed by 53% of Gen X workers. In contrast, 45% of baby boomers and just 39% of Gen Z workers agreed. ? Are you gaining new AI skills right now? If so, what are you learning? On Friday I had the pleasure of joining two incredible women, Monica Capiello and Isabel Reichert, who lead Ohlone’s Digital Arts and Interactive Design program, on a visit to Diablo Valley College. Executive Dean Andrew Le Manque also joined us to support the DAID program’s career education mission. It was amazing to see DVC's virtual production space and program organization. A huge "thank you" to Kevin Leeper and Joann Denning for hosting us. Isabel and Monica are some of the hardest working faculty members I know. They have done an incredible job of growing the DAID program, connecting it to emerging tech industries, and paving career pathways in Digital Arts. These pathways provide livable wages for students in our region. It was great to see them in action, representing the DAID program and forging crucial collaborations and connections.
