Through a $100k+ grant, we are helping increase access to mental health care for vulnerable communities in Greater Green Bay and the Fox Cities. Together with Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin, this initiative will provide counseling services for victims of crime, survivors of sexual assault, youth facing barriers, and individuals struggling with financial and language challenges. We’re also building the next generation of mental health providers to ensure access to culturally sensitive, evidence-based care for years to come. ?? Our Lakeside Campus was happy to host the Healthcare Bus Tour this week! At our clinic, students gained knowledgeable insights about a healthcare career and took a deeper dive into the worlds of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Optometry, and Orthopedics & Sports Medicine!
Here are some photos from yesterday’s “Health Care Bus Tour”, which is designed to give kids the opportunity to learn more about health care and health care related career opportunities, by visiting different facilities in Manitowoc County. Students toured health care facilities: BayCare Clinic Lakeside Campus, Froedtert Holy Family Memorial, and Lakeshore College. Some of the career focuses included Cardiology/Cath Lab, Imaging, Nursing/Med Surg, Nursing Assistant, Nursing Associate Degree - two year nursing, Medial Assistant, Practical Nursing, Radiography - X-Ray, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Orthopedic & Sports Medicine, and Ophthalmology. They also got a chance to participate in the Army Suture Clinic and experience Virtual Reality (VR) Simulation Exercises at Lakeshore College! The Health Care Bus Tour is an event coordinated in partnership between The Chamber of Manitowoc County, Aurora Health Care, BayCare Clinic, Froedtert Holy Family Memorial, Lakeshore College and NEWAHEC: NorthEastern Wisconsin Area Health Education Center.
