BAYARD RUSTIN CENTER FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE转发了
“We will never speak for anyone but with everyone” This is a very nice piece with a lil' more of an underlyin' message written by the lovely Lea Kahn for the Central Jersey family of newspapers which was just published in many of their publications but most meaningfully for me on the front pages of both the Windsor-Hights Herald, where I grew up & taught for almost 25 years, as well as the The Princeton Packet, where our BAYARD RUSTIN CENTER FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE serves the community as a dedicated queer safe-space & where I now call home, so this article serves as a direct connection to these physical spaces in a concrete way... But to me personally it also has greater significance as that journey from my classroom to our Center, inspirational as it absolutely has been, was & still is at times, fraught & somewhat difficult. This feature serves as dual celebration of both my bein’ honored as an LGBTQIA+ History Month Icon by the Equality Forum as well as an even more important recognition & amplification of my fellow teachers in East Windsor (& the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) as a whole) back in the day & the dedicated & utterly fabulous team at BRCSJ HQ now, all of whom have directly allowed me to be of service in a way that would not possible without them. So I very much hope that those who have supported & believed in my good works thus far feel even further engaged, emboldened, & empowered to do so, & those who have not thus far just might be a lil’ inspired to join me & my fellow angelic troublemakers on this extraordinary journey, that this serves as a proverbial bridge between the two, on which we can all of us hold hands & open our hearts to move forward together in what Dr. King called this “long & bitter but beautiful struggle for a new world”.https://lnkd.in/e8KkrSrs
