Meet BAYADA Area Clinical Education Specialist Jackie: She was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis 17 years after first experiencing symptoms as a teenager. While managing her condition, she balances constant fatigue, trying to rest, and having limited movement, all while receiving infusions. “Advocating for myself helps me appreciate what our families must fight for. Our pediatric clients, with their smiles and determination, are my heroes,” said Jackie. Jackie works with BAYADA’s Solutions and Accessibility for Equality (S.A.F.E.) Employee Resource Council (ERC), which allows her to advocate for other employees who may be facing similar challenges. She helps create resource guides and support systems for employees to utilize. Meet BAYADA Nurse Rich Magnuson: he has been a valued team member at our Willow Grove, PA office for 17 years, and was named BAYADA 2023 Registered Nurse National Hero of the Year. "During college, I started to notice I was different. Coming from South Dakota, where being openly gay felt unsafe, I got married, had children, and stayed in the closet, like many others from my generation. My journey of coming out at age 60 was long and challenging, but knowing I worked for an accepting company reassured me. Having an Employee Resource Council (ERC) at BAYADA confirms the company’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). It makes me feel safe at work. Being authentic means I have the freedom to be open and honest about myself, without censoring every word or gesture,” said Rich.
