Trust Youth. Lead Through Innovation. End Youth Homelessness
关于我们
BAY-CASH will rigorously evaluate whether 2 years of regular cash payments plus 2.5 years of supportive services are effective in ending homelessness for young adults in Greater Boston. Our goal is to ensure that every young person has access to an evidence-based direct cash transfer model developed in partnership with young people with lived experience of homelessness for young people with lived experience of homelessness.

Our friends at Chapin Hall have been working hard to find a solution for youth experiencing homelessness around the country. Current?housing?solutions for youth homelessness often lack flexibility?or are not readily available, leaving many young adults?waiting?long periods?of time without?stable housing.?The Cash Plus Model offers a promising alternative—pairing direct cash transfers with youth-driven supportive services to empower young adults in securing safe, stable housing.?
What happens when we pair unconditional cash transfers with optional youth-driven support services? The San Francisco Pathways Study is evaluating the Trust Youth Initiative, a cash plus model designed to increase #Housing stability, food security, and financial stability for young adults experiencing homelessness. See our latest brief, The San Francisco Pathways Study & Trust Youth Initiative, by Sara Semborski, PhD, LCSW and Sarah Berger Gonzalez to learn how this innovative evaluation and model is set up in this city: https://lnkd.in/g7DrWwNn #Homelessness

Grateful for an incredible team and a powerful day at The State House! On March 4th, we brought policymakers, advocates, and young leaders together to discuss real solutions to ending youth homelessness. BAY-CASH is almost ready to launch, and with the right support, we can provide financial stability to young adults who need it most. A huge thank you to Representative Steve Owens, Katherine Tolley, and everyone who joined us- this is how change happens! Let's keep the momentum going. #Endyouthhomelessness #BAYCASH #Policymatter

From our co-founder and Board Chair Matthew Aronson. Let's go!
Learning, collaborating, innovating, elevating others, and using my skills, time, talent, and energy to end homelessness for youth and young adults in America
I have never been more excited ? Last week my wife Erin and I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to do something significant. We sold a decade old investment that has done exceedingly well and decided to donate a large percentage, over $400K, to BAY-CASH. ? That means we have raised $1.7M and need just $300K to launch. We can give our young people, and our state, something they desperately need and have repeatedly asked for, with one final funding push. ? Thank you to our amazing funding partners! Thank you to the families and foundations, new friends and old, who have stepped up to support this work! ? We are so close to bringing our model to young people and demonstrating how Massachusetts can continue being a national leader in the fight to end youth homelessness. You have made this possible! ? If you are looking for an impact donation opportunity, contact me. If you want to help close out funding for a transformational program that will change the lives of the young people in our program AND all young adults experiencing homelessness in Massachusetts, contact me. Know someone who does? Contact me. ? Let’s do this! Thank you

Congratulations to our partners Breaktime on the launch of this exciting project!!!
We bought a building!! I am so excited to share publicly that Breaktime purchased 63 Franklin St in Downtown Boston to launch our new, 34,000-sq-ft Hub for Solving Young Adult Homelessness! In the coming months, Breaktime will expand our programs and services for 18-to-24-year-olds experiencing housing insecurity across three floors. Over the next two years, we will also co-locate a few of our partners (including Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program) on the other floors in order to create a one-stop shop for everything our young adults need. I have been dreaming about/manifesting this moment nonstop over the last year, and I could not be more grateful for everyone who has helped make it possible. ?? In Memory of Pablo ?? I’m heartbroken to share that we lost an incredible person. On July 19th we found out Pablo Suarez had passed away. Although our time with Pablo was cut short, he and his amazing wife, Janot welcomed us with such warmth and kindness. Pablo's energy was truly infectious. I still remember standing with him after the Amity Day event in Weston. As I spoke with someone sharing some "less than progressive" views, Pablo leaned in like an old friend and we exchanged knowing smiles. In that moment it was like an instant connection. The sense of kinship and values we shared felt special. The kindness Pablo and Janot both showed BAY-CASH, inviting us into their beautiful home with an attitude of “we’ll figure this out together,” left us inspired and uplifted. Pablo meant the world to his community, and we’re so grateful to have met him. Our hearts go out to Janot and all of Pablo’s loved ones during this difficult time.

"Recipients of cash benefits were healthier and less likely to visit the emergency department for mental health or substance abuse issues, according to a groundbreaking?new study?by Harvard researchers...while previous analyses of cash benefits warned against recipients’ increased use of drugs and alcohol, the new study found cash benefits led to 87% fewer emergency department visits related to substance use." Nope... Participants really really really don't spend their cash benefits on "drugs." Let's follow the evidence and give our young people the chance they deserve. https://lnkd.in/efPMfM-x
