Cooperatively owned, limited equity, multi-family housing, on urban land that is permanently owned by a CLT.
关于我们
The Bay Area Community Land Trust (BACLT) creates & supports cooperative home ownership for low and moderate income communities. Cooperatively owned, limited equity, multi-family housing, on urban land that is permanently owned by a community land trust (CLT), allows low and moderate income families to enjoy the benefits of home ownership in a setting of maximum energy efficiency. We contribute to sustainable living by facilitating the sharing of resources - reducing the carbon footprint by sharing appliances, common spaces and transportation. We also promote green building, retrofitting and weatherizing, conversion to solar energy, and urban agriculture. And the co-op model itself promotes personal and group responsibility for the environment and provides institutions through which urban dwellers can promote environmental consciousness in their surroundings through example, advocacy, and participation in community projects.

HOUSING JUSTICE STORIES IN THE BAY: Last week we had the pleasure of visiting our new grantee of our Ambassador-led grants program, Bay Area Community Land Trust (BACLT)! We visited two sites—one of which is a rental building that was going up for sale. The tenants (10 units) were worried about what would happen to them if the building was sold, and feared they would all be forced to move out. One of the tenants found BACLT and talked to them about options for a community purchase of the building. BACLT told the tenant that he needed to get the support of at least 90% of the tenants in order for the land trust to get involved in purchasing the property. 100% of the tenants agreed to support the sale to BACLT and they are in negotiations to purchase the building now. The tenants will continue to be renters, and they will take on property management of the site. The 2nd site was purchased from the church next door (blue building). One of the tenants rented in the neighborhood for most of her adult life. She was living in some rough places, and when this housing opened a couple of years ago, she was thrilled to have been selected from the community land trust lottery to live here. Another young mother with her toddler also just moved in. She loves the community that this 8-unit rental building is providing. Two great #HousingJustice stories of keeping families safe and housed in South Berkeley! Visit https://okt.to/AdpT9u to learn more about our Housing Justice work in the #BayArea!

Heartfelt congratulations to Sharron Watts-Brooks and the other Partners for the Bay's Future Fellows for completing their two year fellowship! Sharron played a key role in our community partnership with the Bay Area Housing Finance Authority's Preservation Team (BAHFA), which included BACLT, Urban Habitat and the Unity Council. We wish Sharron success in her next adventure!
Coro Northern California is proud to be the fellowship administrator for the Partnership for the Bay's Future - a collaborative effort to produce and preserve affordable homes, and protect tenants so the Bay Area remains a diverse place where everyone thrives. Congratulations to our Fellows for graduating yesterday and special thanks to the San Francisco Foundation and Enterprise Community Partners for their partnership in co-designing this innovative program.
