FLASHBACK FRIDAY | Riverboat Tower - 600 S. Tryon, North Carolina... Riverboat Tower is an office building and attached parking structure for the Carolina Panthers professional football organization located adjacent to the current Panther Stadium (Bank of America Stadium).The project consisted of drilled shafts including overburden drilling and rock sockets. ? Bauer completed a total of 118 shafts of?multiple diameters, including 84"' 72"' 60"' 54"' 48"' 36" and 30". The project was fast tracked from preparation with a lead-in/mobilization time of only two weeks and the utilization of two drill rigs on a very small site: one BG 40 and one BG 28. FLASHBACK FRIDAY | West Brook Road Bridge Replacement, Wanaque, New Jersey... The bridge spans the Wanaque Reservoir and is supported by two piers located in approximately 60 ft (18 m) depth of water within the reservoir. Each pier consist of two large diameter drilled shafts, for a total of four drilled shafts. The shafts are 10 ft (3 m) in diameter, with depths up to 160 ft 49 m). The overburden consisted of sand, gravel, and glacial till with random boulders. The required rock socket for each shaft was a minimum of 19 ft (6 m) deep with a minimum of 9.5 ft (3 m) diameter. A barge mounted BAUER BG 40 was used to excavate the overburden and rock socket, while the casing was driven by the client with a crane mounted Ape Super Kong Vibrator. Diaphragm Walls - We're the Experts! Key facts about diaphragm walls: ?? Diaphragm walls have a static and/or sealing function and can serve as cut-off walls for dams or excavation pits, as foundations or as enclosures of structures ?? They are executed as concrete or steel-reinforced concrete walls, built from ground level. ?? Diaphragm wall are considered very resistant to deformation and virtually water-impermeable. ?? They are excavated in sections by duty-cycle cranes using suitable diaphragm wall grabs or cutters, with the aid of a stabilizing fluid, between previously fabricated guide walls, which serve primarily to guide the excavator, allow fluctuations in level of the stabilizing fluid and carry temporary loads from the reinforcement or stop end elements. ?? When the final depth is reached, temporary or permanent stop ends are installed in the trench, the stabilizing fluid is desanded and reinforcement cages are installed. Then the concreting is carried out.
