关于我们

We’re inspired by the legacy of Max Baucus to break down barriers so that young people can see, serve, and lead in Montana and throughout the world. We do this through three areas of focus: public service, climate, and U.S.-China relations. If you’re an undergraduate or graduate student in Montana, we invite you to check out our opportunities for students. No matter where you live, we invite you to get involved: attend an event, make a contribution, or collaborate to help us support the next generation of leaders.

?? Celebrating Our Interns' Journey at The Nature Conservancy! We are incredibly proud to share a video featuring the key takeaways from our amazing interns during their time with us. ??? We deeply value the fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and thought-provoking questions that our interns bring. Their contributions have made us pause, think, and reflect, helping us advance our strategies to tackle the climate crisis and biodiversity crisis in this crucial regional hub of Singapore. ?? Kate Cutchen, Climate Mitigation Program, TNC Intern ?? "My biggest takeaway from this experience has been that there is no “one size fits all” approach to tackling climate change. While the threats we face are global, each country’s unique ecosystems, resources, and governmental policies shape the best approach to conserving our world for future generations. Although this is my first time working in conservation, my past work experience has allowed me to travel throughout Southeast Asia and witness the complex challenges facing local communities. It has been an honor to work alongside the countless professionals at TNC who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those affected by climate change and to conserve Earth’s natural lands and waters." ?? Daniel Martin, Climate Scholar, Max S. Baucus Institute, TNC Intern ?? "Throughout the summer, everyone in the TNC has been incredibly welcoming and was quick to help in whatever way they could. Sometimes this help was offering expertise about nuanced sustainability topics and at other times it was connecting me with other professionals in Singapore working in the climate and conservation sector. To supplement my research work, the staff in Singapore gave me the chance to experience a robust office culture by inviting me to participate in workshops about important topics such as sustainable aquaculture and diversity, equity, and inclusion in conservation. Each of these expanded my knowledge base and made my summer so much more than just my research project." ?? Jackson Mundell, Climate Scholar, Max S. Baucus Institute, TNC Intern ?? "As I continue with my education and transition into the workforce, I am confident I want to focus on climate-related fields. Regardless of what path I pursue, meeting and working alongside the TNC's Singapore office team has made me realize there are so many opportunities to work with devoted and passionate people pushing for a better future. This experience was truly unforgettable, and I am very grateful to have been able to work alongside such a great team! We are immensely grateful for their dedication and hard work. Their efforts have truly supported our mission, and we are excited to see the positive impact they will continue to make in the future." Wishing all our interns the very best in their future endeavors! ???? Tom Brzostowski Josh Pinder #Internship #ClimateAction #Biodiversity #Innovation #FutureLeaders #TheNatureConservancy

At the ERISA 50th Anniversary Symposium yesterday, Max Baucus was in conversation with Phyllis Borzi and Preston Rutledge, both former Assistant Secretaries of the U.S. Secretary of Labor, moderated by Bloomberg News' Suzanne Woolley. The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) is landmark federal legislation that passed though a bipartisan effort.

    2026 Juris Doctor Candidate

I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a cultural exchange program in China with the Max S. Baucus Institute, hosted by the Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic. This month-long study abroad program focused on environmental and climate issues, and was part of the 100k initiative to increase the number of American students studying in China and strengthen our future relations. During my time in Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai I had the chance to immerse myself in Chinese culture through language classes, visits to EV factories and power plants, lectures on legal and business practices, and even sightseeing trips to iconic landmarks like the Great Wall and the Grand Canal. I am grateful for the experience and the knowledge gained during this program, and I look forward to applying what I have learned to my future endeavors in environmental and climate advocacy. Thank you to the Max S. Baucus Institute, Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic, and Tiana Jensen, MPA, MEd for this incredible opportunity. #CulturalExchange #StudyAbroad #EnvironmentalAdvocacy #MaxSBaucusInstitute #HangzhouWanxiangPolytechnic?

    Soldier | 2026 J.D. Candidate | Montana Law Review

I'm sad to say that today is my final day with the United States Attorneys' Offices in Great Falls. The lawyers here are truly amazing, serving the public and accomplishing remarkable things every day. It was an honor to assist them. Alfred Hitchcock once said, "What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out." That doesn't seem to apply to federal prosecutors—there are no "dull bits" in their work. In the court of law, life can feel like a movie, and this office handled the stress and high stakes with poise and professionalism. It was truly inspiring. Thank you to the Max S. Baucus Institute Institute for making this opportunity possible by sponsoring my internship as a Montana Baucus Leader 2024. A huge thanks to a remarkable classmate for encouraging me and helping me network to secure this position (you know who you are). And finally, thank you to United States Attorney Jesse Laslovich for giving me this opportunity. He is truly amazing, humble, and kind.

R&D Food Scientist | Data Analyst | FFAR Fellow | PhD Student at Montana State University, USA

It all started when I closed my eyes and took a deep breath... After several failed attempts to secure an internship, I applied to two more opportunities for every rejection; finally—I got it! ? ?? Became a Baucus Climate Scholar at the Max S. Baucus Institute ?? Traveled to #Washington, DC ?? Interned at The Climate Reality Project ?? Wrote an article during my #internship ?? Attended the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Conference in Chicago, presented a poster, and won third place in the graduate oral competition ?? Awarded the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research Rockey Scholarship and selected as a FFAR Fellows Program: Future Leaders for Food & Agriculture ?? Completed a week of #professional development training by FFAR in North Carolina?? ?? Returned to Montana with these experiences When I opened my eyes, 75 days had flown by, and classes were about to begin this week… I want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible individuals I met this summer, who graciously shared their knowledge, offered invaluable advice, and allowed me to learn from their experiences. I am committed to continuing this journey of learning and growth. Thank you for a transformative summer. Keep pushing! Every setback is just a setup for a stronger comeback - Willie Jolley.
