?? Big progress in the #BatteryWorkforceChallenge! Thanks to Samsung Electronics America, we’re working with inert cells that don’t store energy, allowing us to safely build our first EV battery modules. These cells simulate real-world conditions without risk, and next, we’ll put them through vibration testing to ensure their durability. These hands-on experiences prepare us for careers in EV technology, sustainable energy, and battery safety. #CleanEnergyJobs #STEMCareers #Workforce #BatteryTech

I had the honor of joining President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden and 200 fellow education and workforce leaders at The White House this week to kick off of the “Classroom to Career" Summit, hosted by the U.S. Department of Education. President Biden announced $80B has been invested to strengthen and expand the American workforce —highlighting the record progress to expand career pathways to good-paying jobs in infrastructure, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing. These record-setting investments will benefit Americans from every community across the nation for years to come, fueling innovation and strengthening our nation's global competitiveness. I was also honored to speak at the Summit, on the panel “Building Career Pathways through Place-Based Partnerships” to highlight the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Battery Workforce Challenge Program — a $29M public/private partnership managed by Argonne National Laboratory that was announced with the White House in September. The comprehensive workforce development program provides “High School to Career” education and training to ready more than 14,000 technicians, skilled trades and engineers for in-demand positions throughout the battery/EV supply chain featuring: ????♂?Expanding High School Career Technical Education (CTE) for direct-to-career pathways in battery and EV manufacturing ?????? Mobilizing 2- and 4-year post secondary degree programs and stackable learning in battery technology, manufacturing, recycling and safety ??Executing the Battery Workforce Challenge, North America's premier battery technology competition for community colleges and universities, that builds the next generation battery and EV technicians and engineers ??????Fostering a nationwide network of regional battery workforce hubs to build a talent pipeline and ready workers for good-paying jobs across the battery/EV supply chain As our nation transitions to a new administration, we are eager to continue to mobilize these investments into action to build an economy that puts everyone to work, supercharges our critical industries and builds thriving communities across our nation. Thank you to the visionaries who have championed this effort, the 24 educational institutions and the strong coalition of industry partners that are helping us make this workforce program a big success!
