关于我们
Battelle for Kids is a national, not-for-profit organization helping to empower educators so that every student has hope, resilience, and the knowledge and skills to be future-ready. For more than a decade, Battelle for Kids, along with our EdLeader21 Network, has been at the forefront of developing Portraits of a Graduate—shared community visions that expand the view of student success in enrollment, enlistment, entrepreneurship, and employment. Today, Battelle for Kids brings the Portrait to life through our Portrait to Practice work, which purposefully integrates essential academic content with durable skills for future success. Moving forward, our Portrait to Impact framework will use both data and storytelling to showcase evidence of student growth, assess their knowledge and skills, and demonstrate real-world application. The Future-Ready Journey Map helps educators fearlessly reimagine what education can be. It is designed to guide learning organizations through a journey from Portrait to Practice to Impact. This model emphasizes the importance of aligning every part of the educational system to support deeper learning and future-ready mindsets. To further support learning organizations, Battelle for Kids facilitates a national professional learning network (EdLeader21), professional learning communities (SOAR Ohio and the Complex Systems Cohort), and innovation groups. These opportunities bring together future-focused educators and leaders to share experiences, provide support, and inspire each other throughout the Future-Ready Journey. The Future is Ready. We start where you choose to begin.

We recently announced the launch of the Well-Being Lab by Battelle for Kids. Over 30 years of research on the science of hope and resilience converge into what we at Battelle for Kids call The Core Four. By leveraging these four principles, we help create an environment where students and staff feel safe to explore, take risks, and learn from failures. We help foster engagement, connection, and well-being, empowering students and staff to navigate challenges together. We help cultivate a culture that enriches classrooms and impacts entire districts and communities, ensuring every student is future-ready. The "labs" have already been happening all over the country. Here are a few pics of engagement in Harford County Public Schools (Maryland), Newton Public Schools (Massachusetts), and OHVA (Ohio). More than 500 educators reached with strategies for building a culture of hope and resilience! Learn more about the Well-Being Lab by Battelle for Kids: https://lnkd.in/gEprswk8

Our AI Innovation Group is a new benefit to members of our EdLeader21 Network this year!
Two hours flew by in today’s Battelle for Kids EdLeader21 AI Innovation Group meeting as we explored how to integrate AI to enhance learning and operations in K-12 education. We had some truly meaningful conversations about the urgency of preparing for the future, balancing human skills with AI tools, ensuring equity in AI implementation, and addressing the fear and overwhelm that can come with such a rapid shift. Concerns about job markets and workforce readiness were also part of the discussion. Grateful to be part of such forward-thinking conversations and to collaborate with these innovative minds.

"Data shows that durable skills, like those outlined in the North Carolina Portrait of a Graduate, are highly valued by employers and benefit students across all paths — whether they choose college, a career or the military," said North Carolina State Superintendent Catherine Truitt. “This grant is such an important step forward in ensuring our students are prepared for success in the workforce and prepared for the jobs of the future.” Battelle for Kids is thrilled to be part of this grant alongside Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and ETS as well as the states of North Carolina, Indiana, Nevada, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin. Over the next three years, we will partner with ETS, Carnegie, and these states to create a tool that utilizes performance skills that are demonstrated through problem-based learning in the classroom, scoring and personalized skills transcripts to provide a more holistic view of students, their abilities, and the skills they can contribute to the workforce. ??
