The best time to start innovating in AI is now, and there’s no better place to begin than your school. During my time at Harvard, I saw firsthand how the right environment can spark groundbreaking ideas. Excited to be a judge for this event!

I’ve spent the past couple of months breaking down why foundation models struggle in clinical settings. Empirical data and conversations with AI and healthcare visionaries have only reinforced the gaps. Today, we put our platform to the test—live, on an unseen dataset. The outcome? Let’s just say it was one of those rare days where superlatives felt earned. Here’s my quick take on the experiment: 1. LLMs dropped 30% of the information or invented details. 2. Our models working in (or out of) sync with LLMs caught nearly all of it—and when we didn’t, we still flagged what was missing or made up. 3. My team delivered in ways I didn’t see coming. 4. The contrast wasn’t just visible—it was irrefutable, independently verified, and a masterclass in why curated solutions win in healthcare. 5. Before you “transform” healthcare, try listening to clinicians first. The juggernaut keeps rolling, and the busiest weekend of the year is on deck. Wouldn’t have it any other way. basys.ai #ClinicianFirstAI #ExecutionTrumpsHype #HealthcareInflectionPoint #EmpiricalEvidenceOverBuzzwords

Generative AI in Healthcare: What Works, Wha’s Sustainable, and What needs Monitoring? Had a discussion with Dan Roth a couple of weeks ago about generative AI and its role in healthcare. One takeaway—Technology is advancing at warp speed, making it difficult to predict what comes next. But there’s a flipside. This adds an element of uncertainty in the process. Errors in healthcare can be costly. We’re dealing with real lives, not just probabilities. Specialized machine learning and deep learning models are essential. They set guardrails, reduce hallucinations, and let companies build sustainable IP. Monitoring is key as we decode AI—like building a ventilator while relying on it to keep patients alive. Exciting times, but the balance between innovation and responsibility is key. basys.ai Arpan Saxena YiDing Yu, MD Alaa Youssef Tobias Lorch John L Brooks III James Roosevelt Sachin H. Jain, MD, MBA

While speaking with one of our #distribution partners last week—a company larger than basys.ai—about their challenges, it underscored something fundamental; as organizations scale, high-level learning accelerates, but so does delegation, often at the cost of firsthand understanding. That’s why it’s crucial to surround yourself with people who bring complementary skills and lived experience. #Startups, on the other hand, can get dangerously deep into the weeds and lose sight of the big picture. The #excitement isn’t just in finding balance; it’s in disrupting it to get the best of both worlds. Easier said than done. Watch this space for an exciting #announcement soon!

Love this take from Amber Nigam. As a physician enamored with technology, I’ve watched the AI hype train derail before it even left the station. “Revolutionizing healthcare”? “Disrupting the industry”? “Redefining patient care”? Spare me. Most of these health tech AI companies are busy solving problems no one asked them to fix, with solutions designed in a vacuum far removed from clinical reality. AI isn’t about buzzwords, pitch decks, or “paradigm shifts”, it’s about adoption. Right now, we’ve got a talent gap, a trust gap, and a massive disconnect between technologists and clinicians. Stop branding. Start building. And for once, listen to the people actually delivering care.

AI revolutionizing healthcare? I’m over it. As a Health AI founder, let me break it to you: if you’re busy “revolutionizing” healthcare, you’re probably missing something crucial. You need to learn a lot more from clinicians. Let’s face it—every startup that raises money these days seems to have the same slogan. But how’s that working out? Here’s the truth: ? Healthcare isn’t about flashy slogans; it’s about adoption and, most importantly, making it way more personal. ? AI is improving, but we have a huge talent gap in attracting top-tier AI experts into health tech. ? The chasm between technologists and clinicians is growing—thanks to the way we’re branding this whole thing. Time to rethink the narrative and get real about building solutions that work on the ground.

"What it comes down to is attention and intention. If health care leaders pay close enough attention to racial biases, they will understand the importance of solving this problem in all areas of their organization, not just in IT. And if they bring the right level of intention to this issue, they will dedicate actual resources and time to solving it." Amber Nigam is the co-founder and CEO of basys.ai, a generative AI-driven health care company.
