October is Dental Hygiene Awareness Month, celebrating the work of dental hygienists and raising awareness about the importance of good oral health. You can support your oral health by brushing twice daily, flossing daily, limiting food or beverages that are high in added sugar, having at least one annual dental check-up, and getting regular professional cleanings.

Please welcome two practitioners who have joined our Virtual Health Ninja team: Mary Shierly, PA, and Ashley Noel, FNP-C! As experienced practitioners themselves, they will be providing a wide range of expert support to our primary care practitioners when they are busy or out of office. We congratulate Dhananjai Menzies, MD, FACC, FSCAI, Director of Bassett Healthcare Network’s Interventional Cardiology and Catheterization Laboratories, for his recent appointment to the New York State Cardiac Advisory Committee. This recognition comes on the heels of Bassett Medical Center’s recent recognition for excellence in interventional cardiology outcomes statewide. Our Physician Assistants are on the frontlines at our hospitals, clinics, and health centers and we thank them, not just during this #PAWeek, but all year long. Don’t be fooled by the name. Though the word “assistant” may be in the title, a physician assistant is qualified to treat patients in many of the same ways as a medical doctor. They are trusted care providers to so many of our patients.
