Teachers in the BASIS International & Bilingual Schools network find creative ways to incorporate the world around them into their classrooms. At BASIS International School Guangzhou, Mr. Jeffrey Lee blended cultural tradition with learning in his Algebra 1 class during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Students crafted mini glow jars using glow sand to represent the bright full moon and used UV flashlights to illuminate them, symbolizing the moon's glow during the festival. This hands-on activity, combined with math lessons on the moon’s circumference and phases, made for a memorable and educational cultural celebration.
