The team supports around 45 large value procurement exercises a year, supporting all our teams and working closely with our legal team. Climate change officers – who work with partners to help reduce carbon emissions locally in support of our Climate Change and Air Quality Strategy. ?? The Green Team (pictured) – who help communities and companies to reduce their emissions while getting other benefits, including saving money, reducing their energy use and nurturing our native plants and wildlife. ?? Sustainable transport officers – who work to help improve the network of electric vehicle charging points locally and oversee public and community transport services What roles do people do? ?? Our Green Team specialists are largely public facing, going out to communities and companies to give free advice on how they can live and work more sustainably. ?? Our climate change and sustainable transport roles are more technical and office based. They help to ensure we reduce emissions from our operations and get value for money in the transport services that we fund. What skills and qualifications do I need? ?? Great customer service skills are a must, and the ability to foster and develop good relationships with others is fundamental. ?? Our technical roles also benefit from qualifications in their respective fields, which carry credibility with our key partners. Progression opportunities and training ??We offer a range of development opportunities. These include external courses and professional qualifications alongside chances to learn from other officers at the council and staff from other organisations. ??Team members frequently attend short courses or conferences to develop skills and work with officers from other organisations to share experiences and expertise. Our team had a fantastic time visiting BCoT Careers and Industry Placements Basingstoke College of Technology to promote the range of opportunities we have on offer.
