    Today, BASF released its full-year report for 2024. Despite a challenging market environment, BASF performed quite well thanks to the strong performance of our core businesses, where we leveraged our strong market positions to grow EBITDA before special items by 18 percent compared with 2023. Overall, EBITDA before special items for BASF Group rose to €7.9 billion, marking a 2 percent increase. I am also pleased to highlight that BASF attained a free cash flow of ~€750 million, exceeding our forecast range of €0.1 to €0.6 billion. This was the result of lower than projected capital expenditures and our disciplined approach to managing net working capital. Furthermore, we are on track to deliver cost savings of ~€2.1 billion by the end of 2026. At the end of last year, we achieved a total annual cost reduction run rate of €1 billion. In line with our previous announcement, we will propose a dividend of €2.25 per share for the business year 2024 to the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting. Based on the year-end share price, this offers an attractive dividend yield of more than 5?percent. We remain fully committed to advancing our #WinningWays strategy. In this context, we announced the signing of the sale of our decorative paints business in Brazil, a business with a strong team and brand which, however, has limited synergies with the rest of our portfolio. Moreover, in the second half of this year, we will begin the start up of our new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, China, where construction is currently progressing on time and within budget.     Es h?tte eine gro?e Menge Elektroschrott entstehen k?nnen, nachdem wir unseren Supercomputer der ersten Quriosity-Generation in Rente geschickt haben. Schlie?lich füllte er 18 übermannsgro?e Schr?nke. Doch nachdem sein deutlich leistungsf?higer Nachfolger vergangenes Jahr die Arbeit aufnahm, haben wir den ausrangierten Supercomputer auf die Reise zu Hewlett Packard Enterprise nach Schottland geschickt. Dort wurde er in Einzelteile zerlegt, erstaunliche 98% davon fanden neue Verwendung! ???? So sieht gelebte Nachhaltigkeit aus?? #supercomputer #kreislaufwirtschaft #nachhaltigkeit #recycling #reuse #widerverwenden

    I had the great pleasure to welcome Jessika Roswall at our Ludwigshafen site Monday for one of her first industry visits in her new role as EU Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience, and Competitive Circular Economy. We were able to showcase some of our latest investments towards #NetZero2050 and #Circularity, showing that BASF walks the talk: from the world’s first large-scale electrically heated steam cracking furnaces which we developed together with our partners Sabic and Linde, to our brand new Menthol distillation column, one of the latest investments at our Ludwigshafen Verbund site. For our Neopor??Ccycled??plant for expanded polystyrene (EPS) Martin Jung also showcased our circular economy and mass balance approaches as best practices. I’ve appreciated our constructive discussion on further opportunities but also headwinds we face due to a lack of supportive policies to realize some of our transformation projects. There is a sense of urgency to complement the EU Green Deal with an Industrial Deal as highlighted in the ??Antwerp Declaration?? (https://lnkd.in/ePHkVXSE). We count on the European Commission to come forward soon with quick, bold and impactful measures to help create the business case for Europe, in close dialogue with industry. Chemikalienpolitik wirkt sich auf die gesamte industrielle Wertsch?pfung und somit auf die Herstellung aller Produkte des t?glichen Lebens aus. Wie muss eine moderne und pragmatische Chemikalienpolitik gestaltet sein, um dies zu berücksichtigen und um die Industrie bei der Herausforderung, Umweltschutz und Wettbewerbsf?higkeit zu vereinen, zu unterstützen? Effiziente Planungs-, Genehmigungs- und Umsetzungsprozesse sind essenziell. Ein schnell umgesetzter ?Deutschland-Pakt“ und eine eins-zu-eins umgesetzte Europ?ische Industrieemissionsrichtlinie geben Unternehmen die notwendige Sicherheit, um Innovationen schneller voranzutreiben. Dieser Ansatz verbindet ?konomische St?rke mit ?kologischer Verantwortung. Die REACH-Verordnung sollte sehr gezielt angepasst werden. Statt neuer umfassender Regularien sollte der Fokus auf wissenschaftlich fundierten und zielgerichteten Vereinfachungen liegen, die praktikabel und klar umsetzbar sind. Es bedarf eines wissenschaftlichen, risikobasierten, aber auch verl?sslichen F?rderrahmens für die Entwicklung sicherer und nachhaltiger Chemikalien, die den Weg für zukunftsf?hige L?sungen ebnen. Spezielle Stoffe wie PFAS, die für industrielle Anwendungen essentiell sind, brauchen dafür langfristige Genehmigungen, wenn keine Ersatzstoffe verfügbar sind. Eine ausgewogene Regulierung, die sowohl wirtschaftliche Anforderungen als auch ?kologische Notwendigkeiten berücksichtigt, kann hier eine Brücke schlagen. #Bundestagswahl #Chemikalienpolitik #Nachhaltigkeit #Innovation #Wahl2025

    As part of the "May deportation," he was deported to German-occupied Poland in 1940. The Nazis considered Heinrich Birkenfelder a so-called "Gypsy of mixed blood” [Nazi term]. In 1944, the family managed to escape from the ghetto. The entire documented story of Heinrich Birkenfelder is told by BASF as part of the remembrance project “Tracing Fates.” On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, BASF aims to contribute to the commemoration of the victims of National Socialism.
