I'm looking for someone with a STRONG hospitality background to join our team in Austin. At Base, we're rebuilding community. Not by hosting "one-off dinners with strangers", but by bringing people together, sharing stories, and contributing to our local communities. Bit by bit, we're fixing the mess that Social Media caused in our social lives. So what will you help us do? ?? Host 12 community dinners, each night in Austin ?? ?? Partner with dozens of local restaurants for unique venues ?? Collaborate with preexisting communities ?? Host monthly socials for over 500+ people ?? As our Event Manager, you’ll: - Develop and “playbook” our event programming in Chicago, bringing fresh, local perspectives to the table - Concept and execute unique, Chicago-centric experiences that highlight our city’s local culture - Manage all event logistics, from working with vendors and managing budgets, to ensuring every detail aligns with an excellent Member experience - Be the face of Base in Chicago, building relationships with our Members and venue/restaurant partners, while gathering feedback and acting on it to continuously raise the bar This is truly a dream role for someone who lives and breathes event planning and wants to be at the heart of Chicago's cultural scene. I am genuinely repelled by anything that even smells remotely like traditional networking... And yet, I have this huge community of people I can call on for anything at the drop of a hat. Which means that, there's more than one way to play this game. One that doesn't require name tags, or cocktails, or panel discussions. Something I discovered a few years ago was that: ?? You can just have normal conversations, like a normal person, and still have vibrant collection of humans who go through life at your side. It just requires you to: ? Show up consistently for years. ? That you actually care about the people you're talking to ? Give one thousand times more than you receive.

Friends, alongside my full time role at Motiliti Inc, I've been lucky to be on the Membership Committee for a very cool company called Base (www.base.club) this year. Base is a modern social club bringing together great minds in Austin, Miami and Chicago for deep cultural experiences and salon-style dinners. It's a really unique concept-- it's not a networking club, nor is it a dating app, but rather a place to meet people you connect with intellectually with the goal of making some genuine adult friendships the way you did in college- over things that matter to you, and the way you think. Although Base is gearing up to be in DOZENS of cities within the next 12 months. I want our partnerships to be super UNSCALABLE...especially in Austin. Our Base office in Austin opens September 30th! ?? But we're still looking for ONE more person to join our team. What do we do in a nutshell: 1. We connect great minds. 2. We create community around lifelong learning, and personal growth. 3. And we do that by brining together the most interesting, and eclectic people in your city. How do we find these "great minds"? Well to be frank, we interview THOUSANDS of applicants each month. Our team seeks out those who live our values, and believe in our mission. Who are kind, and courageous, an excellent in their respective fields. ?? So who are we looking for to join the team? ?? We're looking for someone to join our MEMBERSHIP TEAM! What will you be doing? (It's pretty much the best job ever lol): 1?? Be the literal voice of Base 2?? Talk to Base members every day 3?? Have authentic and empathetic conversations with them. 4?? Create new interviewing techniques to find outstanding people. In short, you will use your powers of empathy, charisma, and kindness to help us find the most captivating people in Austin. We're opening up an office for Base in Austin. If you want to help me solve this whole "Kids no longer play in the streets, guys no longer ask out girls in real life, and we all live in our own little filter bubbles" problem. ...maybe we should work together. Which means choosing great venues, meeting with vendors, sticking to our budget, and most importantly wining and dinning our guests. 4?? Go around to a bunch of restaurants and event venues in the city, and create partnerships with them. 5?? Be the face of Base in Austin. Show up to our events, support our members face-to-face, and get your hands dirty. 6?? Take feedback from our community members, and use it to make our future gatherings better.
