Part of Wellsville's progressive revitalization efforts includes our administration of Governor Kathy Hochul's NY Forward Small Project Grant Fund. This $450,000 grant aims to enhance signage, storefronts, and upper-story floor renovations along Main Street, adding to the town's charm. Moreover, Wellsville has secured $4,000,000 in NY Forward Grant funds for the renovation of its train station, enhancements to the Wellsville Creative Arts Center, and the transformation of the old library & borough hall building. About Wellsville: Situated in Allegany County, New York, Wellsville stands as the largest town in the Southern Tier region. Wellsville, NY - Re-Imagining Main Street Envisioning a tree lined, charming Main Street for Wellsville in Allegany County, New York will new attract visitors, businesses and investors. Wellsville is the largest town within Allegany County and has the opportunity to become the central dining, shopping and entertainment hub in the region. Wellsville’s extra wide boulevard designed, over 100 years ago, now features extra wide turning lanes at each traffic light. This was necessary decades ago as all traffic then went through the center of town. In the 90s a bypass was constructed around the Village diverting much needed consumer traffic out of the downtown. This led in turn to the shuttering of many Main Street businesses.
