Barry Law Trial Team

Congratulations to our team for winning SECOND PLACE at the E. Earle Zehmer Memorial Mock Trial Competition! We sent THREE amazing groups of advocates that represented us this weekend! Team B advanced all the way to the final round winning second place in the entire competition! Team B consisted of Austin Newell (3L), Abigal Rodriguez (2L), Kendra Wilbanks (2L), and Jakob K. (2L). Team A advanced all the way to the quarter finals. Team A consisted of Ashley Schrader (3L), Matthew Koval (3L), Brooke Lynn Smith (3L), and Nolan Allen (3L). In Team C we were represented by David Boudreaux (3L), Polina Mustazza (2L), Vincent Baerga Mendez (2L), and Eric Escobales (2L). Thank you to our coaches Jace Lunn, Scher Guzzo, Chris Gonsalves, and Judge Michael Kraynick! We could not have done it without all of their help! We could not be make proud of every team member that represented us! You all did amazing! ????

We want to say thank you to everyone who came together to help make this a successful tryout, this was one of the BIGGEST GROUPS of advocates we have seen try out! We had almost 60 students tryout this semester and could not be more excited to see what is in store for The Barry Law Trial Team this upcoming semester!

A special shout out to our amazing team members Grace Sadoff (3L), Charles Metzger (3L), Jonathan Katz (3L), and Janelle F. (3L) for being SEMI- FINALISTS at the National Trial Advocacy Competition. Our team went undefeated in the first three rounds, beating Alabama, Washington University St. Louis and Harvard. Congratulations to Janelle F. for being named the Best Overall Advocate and Best Cross-Examination! Thank you to our amazing coaches, who were Barry & Trial Team alum Monica Oquendo-Alvarez, ESQ. , Cameron Bullock, and Quanejha 'Q' Erwin, Esq. (All three coaches were also past trial team presidents ??) We couldn’t be any more proud of our amazing advocates! ???

We also announced today that we will be having our Trial Team try-outs officially on November 9th. Please make sure to be attentive of your email for more information!

In need of PEP credits? Your Barry Trial Team will be performing a full run through of a mock trial on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM in The Moot Courtroom. This event is qualified for 3.5 PEP credit. You must stay the entire time to get all 3.5 PEP credits. This is a full trial from opening to close, with a 10 minute break in the middle. You will have the opportunity to see what a mock trial looks like, what to expect in a mock trial competition, and so much more! After the trial, there will also be an opportunity to ask any questions to competitors and coaches! If you’re interested in trying out for trial team, this is a great opportunity to get an idea of what will be needed for tryouts, what is expected in terms of performance, and to ask any questions about tryouts! *food & drinks will also be provided If you’re interested in attending please fill out the following form so we know how many people to expect! Today we had the privilege of being taught by the SAK Comedy Lab essential courtroom skills like adaptability, quick thinking, team bonding, and collaboration! We know our team will be walking away stronger than ever and ready to take on our next competition! ??????
