COAN TAPPED TO LEAD ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN BARROW COUNTY The Barrow Braselton Joint Economic Development Authority (BBJEDA) has selected Mike Coan, a senior executive with the State of Georgia, to lead economic development in Barrow County. The announcement was made by Srikanth Yamala of Barrow County Government and the Chairman of BBJEDA. “Mike is an excellent candidate to serve as the next economic development director of BBJEDA,” Yamala said. “His expertise in building effective relationships and serving diverse clients and stakeholders will be an asset to the authority. As Barrow County continues to grow, it is critically important that someone like Mike be available to implement the economic development plan and to work closely with our existing and new industries.” Coan currently serves as Executive Director for the Georgia State Election Board and previously served as the Deputy Commissioner for the Georgia Department of Labor. “I am very excited to join the BBJEDA team,” Coan said. “I look forward to working with Barrow County, its municipalities, and other partners to create a strong and economically centered community.” Coan has a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of West Georgia. He serves on the Chairman’s Advisory Council for Workers Compensation and is a former Georgia House of Representatives member. He will begin his role on Feb. 5.
