"Empower personal excellence in every learner.”

关于我们

The Barrington 220 School District is a nationally recognized preK-12 school district, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The school district is geographically located in four counties: Cook, Kane, Lake, and McHenry. Barrington 220 has one high school, two middle school campuses for grades 6-8, eight elementary schools, one early childhood center, and a transition center for special education students who are 18-22 years old. The first Barrington school was a one-room schoolhouse, which opened in 1835. However, it wasn’t until 1973 that the Barrington 220 School District officially formed. Since then Barrington 220 has become known for its innovative curriculum, rich history, and sense of community. Our mission is to empower personal excellence in every learner. Our schools have earned a total of 12 National Blue Ribbon Awards and nearly 90% of our teachers have earned a master’s degree or higher.

  • Graduating BHS seniors can recognize staff members who have had a positive impact on them during their educational careers with the Barrington 220 Impact Award. All current Barrington 220 staff members are eligible—any teacher, counselor, aide, coach, custodian, principal, etc. who made a difference in the eyes of the student. Seniors will have the opportunity to hand deliver a certificate with an invitation for the selected staff member to attend the BHS graduation ceremony as the student’s special guest. Staff recipients of the Barrington 220 Impact Award will receive special recognition during the ceremony and their names will be listed in the program. Thank you to BHS-TV student Aidan Kelly for creating this Impact Award video! #ThePlaceToB #220ImpactAward

  • Barrington 220 staff members Dr. Matt Fuller, Brigid Tileston and Paula Levin recently presented alongside Barrington High School students Ashley Carfora, Marco Stabile and Emilia Vandenbergh at IDEAcon 2025, the annual conference of the Illinois Digital Educators Alliance. Their talk, “Artificial Intelligence as a Creative Partner: Producing a Mini-Musical with Students & AI Tools,” chronicled their experience creating an original musical entitled “The Place to B” to introduce the 2024-25 school year theme. The team incorporated AI tools into the brainstorming process, and quickly realized the tools’ strengths (ideation and plot creation) and weaknesses (authentic dialogue and choreography). • For his latest episode of All in 220, Barrington 220 Superintendent Dr. Craig Winkelman visited Station Campus to surprise a special educator. The district held an opening day for staff members before our students returned to school in August. During this event, Dr. Winkelman talked to staff about what makes Barrington 220?#ThePlaceToB?and how he believes one of the secret ingredients to our success or “secret sauce” is the dedication of our staff. For his All in 220 series this year, Dr. Winkelman is teaming up with our students to surprise staff members who make Barrington 220?#ThePlaceToB. For the third episode, he sat down with Josh, an 8th grader at Station Campus, who says that Special Education Teacher Allison Schultz is the “secret sauce” that makes Station such a special place. Mrs. Schultz has worked in Barrington 220 for the past 11 years as a 6th grade English Teacher, Multilingual Specialist, and Special Education Teacher. Station Principal Chad May says that she is a leader in the building who embraces any role she is asked to take on. She eagerly tackles the most challenging educational jobs and is always positive and proactive. In addition, Principal May says Allison is a great model for other teachers to follow. Thanks to Allison for her hard work and dedication to the district. In addition, thanks to a few BHS students who helped with this project. BHS culinary student Esbeiry Lopez made the “secret sauce” presented to Mrs. Schultz in the video. BHS graphic design students Grace Barger and Sabrina Collette helped design the label on the sauce jar.

  • Alumni News: Om Gandhi (BHS '21) was recently one of only 32 Americans named a 2025 Rhodes Scholar! Om will pursue a doctorate at the University of Oxford in England next fall. He is set to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania this May, where he is concurrently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and public health and a master’s degree in bioengineering. "It was at Barrington that I conducted research for the first time, and the support I received from all of you allowed me to apply classroom learnings to real-world projects," Om shared in an email with Dr. Winkelman and some of his BHS teachers. "This experience has been invaluable throughout my college career and will undoubtedly continue to shape my journey in graduate school. Moreover, my strong humanities education and participation in the Debate program at Barrington significantly strengthened my communication skills. These skills have enabled me to communicate my scientific work effectively in grants, papers, conferences, and other writings."
