GROUP THERAPY Our groups are led by an experienced therapist. Insurance may cover all or a portion of the cost of participating, but many of our patients pay a small fee out-of-pocket. Please call to ask about specific costs and to register. TMS Therapy Barrier Islands offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) through NeuroStar. NeuroStar uses TMS to target key areas of the brain that are underactive in people with depression. It is not ECT (electroconvulsive therapy). INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), using evidence based Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as its core, will help you more effectively manage extreme patterns of thought and behavior in order to achieve a greater balance in life. DBT is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that is concerned with the mental process of perception, memory, judgment and reasoning. Our program is made up of groups that meet three hours a day, three days a week. We incorporate fun and healing activities into your treatment plan to provide a new way to achieve long term recovery. Programs such as equine therapy, yoga, art therapy, nutrition education, music therapy and others will offer a backdrop into deepening your treatment experience no matter where you are in the recovery process. The skills taught here will not only better your life, but the lives of your loved ones too.
