Did you know that November is National Scholarship month? The George H. Wilson Scholarship Fund was established to honor the incredible contributions of George H. Wilson—second leader of Barriere, an industry pioneer, and a visionary in asphalt technology. A key figure in the growth of the company alongside his father, Gaines Wilson, George advanced infrastructure construction through his work in the asphalt industry, even serving as President of the National Asphalt Pavement Association in the early '70s. In his memory, the George H. Wilson Scholarship supports LSU students pursuing a future in asphalt technology. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional students enrolled in Intro to Asphalt Mixture and Design, a program that carries forward George's commitment to innovation and excellence. In celebration of Career Development Month, we’re excited to spotlight Barriere's revamped Emerging Leaders Program (ELP)! Designed to nurture both professional and personal growth, ELP combines leadership training, skill-building workshops, and outreach opportunities. With a focus on self-awareness, servant leadership, and personal branding, this program empowers participants to build the skills and mindset needed for future leadership success.

This month is National Scholarship Month! This scholarship honors the legacies of past NAPA President Michael Acott and the Wilson family, who proudly operated Barriere for over 70 years. Last week, we had the honor of hosting Jim Mintern, CRH's incoming CEO starting Jan 1, 2025. Jim met with our leadership team, a group of our inspiring young leaders, and went on a plant tour that showcased the exceptional work we do every day. We're grateful for his visit and the vision he shared for our future!

Exciting updates from our Central Business District Improvements project! We’re hard at work rehabilitating concrete and roadways across 64 blocks. This project includes patching, mill overlay, striping, loop installation, and repairs to curbs, sidewalks, and handicap ramps. Stay tuned for more updates!
