As chronicled in Mark L. Cushing’s important book "Pet Nation," we are living through a revolution in attitudes toward companion animals. In just a few decades, dogs have gone from “property” living primarily in our backyards, to full-fledged family members living in our homes (and bedrooms!). This change has rippled through all segments of our economy, giving rise to dog-friendly hotels, schools, public transportation – and of course creative dog-friendly social destinations like Bar K! There has also been a welcome trend toward allowing dogs in the workplace. Happy #NationalRescueDogDay! We are so grateful to be able to work closely with the animal rescue community in each of our markets. We host #AdoptionSaturday every Saturday from 11-1, we invite different rescue groups to bring in their adoptable dogs and try to find homes for as many as possible. Every dog adopted at one of our events gets a free Annual Bar K Membership! Over the years we've found loving homes for hundreds of deserving pups. Tonight, we're hosting a National Rescue Dog Day celebration from 5-8pm at each of our locations, we'll have multiple rescue organizations on-site with lots of adorable adoptable dogs.
