Statement from the Bannock County Treasurer's Office: The Bannock County Treasurer’s Office would like to notify taxpayers that there is a possibility that their 2024 tax notices could be mailed later than usual this year. Due to a software issue in the State Tax Commission’s office, the Bannock County Treasurer’s Office has been unable to complete the process of generating taxes at this time. The State is working hard to resolve the issue, and the Treasurer’s Office will do everything possible to get your tax notice to you as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, this delay is out of our control and we appreciate everyone’s patience while this gets resolved. In the meantime, the Treasurer’s Office is happy to calculate an estimate for an individual’s 2024 tax bill. However, the estimate will not include the Homeowner Tax Relief (HB 292) provided by the legislature. Those who prefer to pay their taxes before they receive their bill are welcome to pay their estimated amount. If you would like an estimate of your tax bill before you receive your official notice, please call the Treasurer’s Office at 208-236-7220. (Any tax overpayment will go towards the property owner’s 2024 2nd half-tax bill or their 2025 tax bill.) The December 20th due date for the first half of the taxes will remain the same in accordance with Idaho Code 63-903.

The community is invited to the 6th Judicial District’s annual National Adopt Day Celebration on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024. The celebration will feature information about adoption, with speakers discussing the importance of adoption, including the Honorable Anson L. Call. The celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Village, 345 N 5th Avenue in Pocatello. This year’s theme is “Adoption Rocks!” and community members are invited to paint a rock at the event in honor of adoption. Light refreshments will be served. National Adoption Day is an effort to increase awareness of the children in the nationwide foster care system who are waiting to be adopted. The day is typically celebrated on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, but Idaho courts will celebrate throughout the month of November. The 6th Judicial District National Adoption Day Celebration is supported by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Idaho Supreme Court Family Court Services, Bannock County, and the 6th Judicial District Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

Our Jury Services office has received numerous reports of phone fraudsters asking for false fines for missing jury service to be paid over the phone. Please be aware: ? The 6th Judicial Court, or any court, will never assess a fine or penalty for failing to appear for jury service without first having the person appear before a judge. ? The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office never issues subpoenas or warrants over the phone. ? If someone presents themselves as a Bannock County employee and states you have a legal issue and need to pay a sum of money immediately, they are attempting to scam you. Report scams to the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office at 208-236-7123.

When tragedy strikes the United States, Idahoans aren’t afraid to answer the call for help. Three volunteers from Bannock County and one from Idaho Falls traveled across the country to North Carolina to help in the Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Parker Williams, Karen Trumbull, Emma Iannacone, and Eric Grossarth were deployed through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, a crucial interstate agreement that facilitates resource sharing among states during times of disaster or emergency. Learn more about their time in North Carolina in our latest blog post here: https://lnkd.in/gSwcAVhc Interested in volunteering for local emergencies?
