Join us for our inaugural Artist Reception (with an artist talk by Mary Mooney) on November 4th as an official stop along the First Saturday Art Crawl from 6pm-8pm. Meet us in Gallery Two as we explore the artwork of Melissa Huang & Mary Mooney in our current exhibit titled, “Glass Ceiling, Black Mirror”. These art pieces contain concepts of self-reflection and personal growth, using very different styles and mediums. Applying bold and feminine color palettes, both Huang and Mooney explore the pressures and expectations that American culture places on women and femme people to perform stereotypes associated with femininity. From the way women look and dress, to how they take up space in their work and in their homes, there is a path, there are boxes… a code to follow. Huang and Mooney find ways to convey what those boxes are, how they fit into them, and how they break out of them. We are both honored and excited to have Mary Mooney join us to talk about her art, process, and thoughts on modern day femininity.
