Sometimes scammers forget who they’re dealing with and they provide us with great teaching moments. This is a message our Facebook page received a few days ago, and on its surface, seems serious. Threats to suspend our page due to trademark infringement and violation of community guidelines. Were we to gloss over it, the knee jerk reaction is to respond and try to fix the problem. But when you start to really read between the lines, it becomes extremely obvious that this is a scam. First and foremost, if Facebook/Meta were to reach out, it wouldn’t be from a private profile. Second, the link they ask us to click routes us to a page named “atplink. com” - why not a Facebook official page? It’s important with all digital interactions to step back and assess the message and situation. When you start to learn the warning signs, the red flags become visible that much easier.

With the ever increasing frequency of scams we see, it’s important to recognize the signs in order to protect yourself from slick cybercriminals that can comandeer your computer, or your heart strings.
