BDN brings Maine together as a trusted guide to a state that we love
关于我们
Founded in 1889 by the great-grandfather of the current publisher, The Bangor Daily News is among the oldest family-owned news organizations in the United States and the sole independent daily newspaper in Maine, providing high-quality state, local and investigative journalism and comprehensive marketing and advertising services. Bangor Publishing Company today serves its readers and its advertisers from Portland to Aroostook County with a family of products providing statewide reach such as the Bangor Daily News, bangordailynews.com, The Piscataquis Observer, Bangor Metro Magazine, The County and thecounty.me, Pulse Marketing Agency and Print Works, a full service printer located in Presque Isle. We like to say that the BDN brings Maine together through local, fact-based journalism as a trusted guide to the state we all love, providing the essential civic service of investigative, accountability and community journalism.? BDN community reporting is focused on Maine’s more rural regions, in eastern and northern Maine. Investigative reporting is statewide, as is policy reporting centered in Augusta with our politics team. In many communities we serve, the Bangor Daily News is the only entity providing watchdog reporting.

BDN political journalists are based in the Maine State House and have deep source networks across the partisan spectrum in communities all over the state. Their coverage aims to cut through major debates and probe how officials make decisions. They also cover how events outside of Maine will affect Mainers. https://lnkd.in/gSdu-HBR

NEFAC Executive Director Justin Silverman recently spoke to Kathleen O'Brien at the BDN about Bangor's new public comment policy. “I’m not saying what they’re doing is unreasonable, but I wonder if there are better ways to move forward that would allow everyone to be treated equally in terms of when in the meeting they could speak,” Silverman told O'Brien. Instead of breaking public comment into two parts, he said the council could allow everyone to speak either at the beginning or the end of the meeting, especially if a contentious issue is expected to be discussed.
