In a business context which is so broadly and rapidly transforming, including the expectations of customers and service providers alike, the available data, or the emerging technologies, effectively managing change is unquestionably critical. Yet, the fact that over 80% of initiatives keep falling short of expectations denotes a systematic flaw in how change is being managed. Join the inService? Podcast Live on Thursday, May 23rd at 12PM ET as hosts John Carroll and Gerardo Pelayo, Ph.D. welcome Alan Schaefer, CEO and Founder of Banding People Together. An expert at change management and cross-functional team building, Alan will share what he’s learned from helping some of the biggest brands successfully influence their teams and accelerate results. He’ll discuss common barriers service leaders face when it comes to the “people” element of change management and offer prescriptive ways to get the whole team in the groove. Alan Schaefer is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Banding People Together, a supergroup of scientists, strategists, former C-Suite executives, and rock stars who help teams and organizations get in the groove by tuning up soft skills that get in the way of results. His music-centric, data-driven approach is designed to help C-suite leaders understand how their individual characteristics influence their interactions with others, while also identifying quick "mix moves" to enhance collaboration, find your organization’s groove, and amplify outcomes. #changemanagement #service #fieldservice #aftermarket #podcast

Spot on Shelley Brown. I have a simple definition of a rock star. Foundational table stakes if you will...a TRUE rock star is comfortable in their own skin. They don't care whether people dig their sound or not, BUT....they care about people and give their best every single time they set foot on stage...doesn't matter if there are 10 people or 10,000. They are open minded and not afraid to try something new and learn. #authenticity #leadership #rockstar #powerofmusic

The first single from the 1981 Rolling Stones album Tattoo You, 'Start Me Up' is a Rolling Stones classic. Interesting what gets people going or not. Some of us are wired to jump out of the starting gate, maybe even before the gun goes off. Some of us, fearful of mistakes, are reluctant to take a step without the comfort of context. At Banding People Together we help define tempo using our own unique data. We also help put measures in place so those differences don't derail the sound or ability for a team or organization to create hits. It's just one of the ways we quickly identify friction points that cause "Noise" making clarity a challenge bordering on impossible. Oh yeah, it also leaves people frustrated. FunFact: The Stones did a reported seventy-ish takes of 'Start Me Up' as a Reggae song over five years of attempts (none of them worthy). Buried in the tapes was one spontaneous take of Charlie and Keith blasting through the song as a rocker. With a few overdubs, that's the take you hear on the iconic single. Said Keith- "It was just buried in there. Nobody remembered cutting it". #teambuilding #clarity #powerofmusic #leadership

For those of you who were curious about the band reunion, below is a clip posted by Dan Fishman. We played in bands for years including Five Star Iris. He is now a very talented and in demand voice over artist should you have the need for external or internal voice work. Tagging Rob Schaefer and Alex Winfield as well! #powerofmusic #leadership #teambuilding

    Voiceover Artist

I did something this past weekend that I haven’t done in almost 15 years – played a show with Five Star Iris. (Granted, it was in a living room, and just on Facebook live, but it was still 4 guys playing songs we wrote together for other people – a show.) It was fun. It was great to see the guys. And it was interesting that after 15 years even though I might not remember the song from titles written on a set list, once I heard them, my hands and feet knew what to do instinctively. Rob (bass player) had the same experience. The best part was just making music – with no real agenda. It made me think about something I heard from Jon Batiste. Batiste essentially said that it’s not possible to make judgements about the best or greatest musicians, painters, and artists. Every work of art is a creative expression of the human experience and there are times when certain artwork resonates with a large group or groups of people and we judge it as being great, or the best when it makes large groups of people (or “judges”) feel something and/or has an impact on their lives. However, as artists, we do the work because it reflects something about our experience. We work on our craft, and put as much of ourselves into it as we can afford and muster at the time, not to be better or worse than something else, but because it’s the best way we know how to share with others. Voiceover works the same way. Every day that goes by we are learning about voiceover techniques and methods and skills, and most importantly about ourselves. As voice actors we continue to put ourselves out into the market in the form of auditions, and we can’t control when our voice, our experience, our life resonates with a client or the public, so we just keep doing what we can because it’s the path we know. Accepting that reality, that lack of control is very valuable and a healthy perspective to deal with the “rejection” when we’re not selected for a job or campaign. #CreativeCollaboration #Voiceover #AtlantaVoiceOverStudio #creativity #marketing #inspiration #audioproduction

This is REALLY important. Worth reading. What I DO challenge is the notion that we can just "do" what they are proposing. Our wiring and tendencies make some of the things suggestion aspirational. But, with the right data anyone can navigate the complexity to help manage how others "feel" to reduce stress for those we lead. That is game changing and the core of our work at Banding People Together #leadership #teambuilding #trust #empathy
