The Motor Operated Switch (MOS) is one of the many ways BGE is innovating to improve reliability on its electric system. When installed on a residential underground switchgear as part of our Automated Restoration Scheme, the MOS can be operated remotely when a fault is detected on the line--eliminating the need for crews to manually operate the switch. This can significantly reduce the duration and size of a potential outage.

This is what decarbonization leadership looks like, and I’m proud of my colleagues at Baltimore Gas and Electric, especially Amy Chandler, for helping to make this possible!
