Baltimore residents interested in applying for this grant are invited to join us at Harborplace on Friday, November 1, at 2:00 pm for our next Elevation Awards Application Support Workshop series. CHARMcares platform gets a boost from Civic Innovators: Baltimore Corps’ Civic Innovators program creates opportunities for collaborations between local corporations and city agencies to develop innovative solutions to critical issues. Since 2020, Baltimore Corps has led five CIP projects. Our fifth Civic Innovators project (CIP 5.0) concluded in July. Corporate volunteers from CareFirst, Comcast, T. Rowe Price, and Under Armour partnered with staff from the Mayor’s Office of Equity and Civil Rights and the Baltimore City Health Department to enhance the CHARMcare referral system. The cross-sector collaboration resulted in recommendations to improve user experience & accessibility and increase awareness and participation from local stakeholders. Our corporate partners donated 720 hours to this project, resulting in a cost savings of $70,560 for the City of Baltimore. Civic Innovators is successful due to cross-collaborative partnerships. We are thankful to our partner organizations and their contributions to this project!

?? ANNOUNCEMENT: Since 2019, Baltimore Corps has operated Kiva-Baltimore, the local chapter of small business crowdfunding platform Kiva. We are excited to announce BALTIMORE COMMUNITY LENDING (BCL) as the new operating organization of Kiva in the greater Baltimore area. BCL specializes in preparing small businesses to utilize loans for business growth and achieve financial stability and success. Over five years, 80 small businesses have received crowdfunded loans through the Kiva-Baltimore microloan program operated by Baltimore Corps, totaling $485,000 invested in small businesses!

Today, Baltimore Corps joined Mayor Brandon Scott, Morgan State University President David Wilson, and Coppin State University President Anthony Jenkins to announce a new partnership for HBCU graduates and jobseekers, the Mayor’s HBCU Fellowship! This nine (9) month leadership development opportunity allows Baltimore City to identify HBCU graduates for fellowship opportunities in city government and underscores a key component of Baltimore Corps’ mission: investing in leadership development for BIPOC professionals and sector effectiveness by recruiting talent from our local academic institutions. Baltimore Corps will recruit and place 25 fellows from Coppin State and Morgan State Universities, undergraduate and graduate jobseekers, in careers within the city. Serving as a vital workforce development partner, Baltimore Corps will lead efforts to develop fellows in employability skills, racial equity, and civic engagement. This opportunity provides crucial support to employer partners at city agencies Additionally, Baltimore Corps remains fully committed to supporting Fellows and agency partners post-programming to ensure long-term retention.
