When our client, Inova Health, heard we'd be on site for a photoshoot, they sent in their videography team. Together, with our partners at Ennead Architects, we were able to take photos to promote our work and sit in as models for a ribbon-cutting sizzle reel. At Ballinger, the relationships we build are just as important as the buildings we create. We are advocates for our clients, the project and its ambitious vision. Designing is about leading our partners through a journey of exploration and creation—one that ultimately amplifies their mission. This week, we celebrated the opening of the first phase of the new adult ER at Inova Fairfax Hospital Medical Campus, alongside the expanded Inova Children’s ER (opening in December) and our new EmPATH unit for behavioral health. These spaces will enhance our ability to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to the community. Today at Inova Fairfax Hospital, we celebrate the ribbon cutting of our expanded Inova Children's Emergency Room (ER) and the region's first EmPATH (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, and Healing) unit for emergency mental health care! This expanded pediatric ER and new EmPATH unit reflects our continued investment in the health and wellbeing of our community. Inova Children's ER features: ?? Specialized emergency care for children and adolescents ?? Family-friendly environment ?? A separate entrance for pediatric emergencies ?? Dedicated kid-friendly treatment rooms and waiting areas Inova EmPATH unit features: ?? Emergency care for mental health in a therapeutic, low-stimulus environment ?? Group therapy spaces and therapeutic interventions throughout the day ?? Rapid assessment, stabilization, and discharge planning, typically within 48 hours ?? An open, calming space designed to reduce anxiety and promote healing With the expansion and new services, we’re equipped to provide even more specialized care and support for our growing community. Looking back at our work on the state-of-the-art NewYork-Presbyterian David H. Koch Ambulatory Care Center! In collaboration with HOK, Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, and Ballinger, Syska Hennessy Group provided MEP/FP services to create this 734,000 sf facility focused on patient comfort and advanced outpatient care.
