Supporting ballet beyond it’s traditional boundaries

关于我们

Ballet Rising is a community development organization dedicated to making ballet more accessible by Empowering Emerging Ballet Communities in the most unlikely places. We address a lack of connectivity at the edges of the global ballet community with the aim of expanding opportunities and collaboration through Financial Support, Networking, and Awareness. Ballet Rising goes beyond nurturing dancers and talent discovery. We promote ballet's wide-ranging benefits for all, contributing to a positive impact on society. For most of its history, ballet stars came mainly from Europe and North America. Today, that is changing. The ballet world has a wider range of ethnic, racial and religious diversity than ever before, and global audiences are becoming increasingly aware of the social, individual and economic benefits of supporting dance in their communities. Ballet Rising provides support to artists, faculty, and students who have worked on the margins of the ballet community for too long, and provides fundraising, education, networking, and advocacy assistance. In addition, we use our media platform to share unique and inspiring stories from the artists in our network to create awareness about how their journey is evolving. This creates an abiding interest in the growth of the community from a wider range of participants.

Teaching #ballet has become an unexpected joy for Ballet Rising's director and founder Casey Herd! ?? ??

Founder / Director at Ballet Rising

Teaching ballet has evolved into one of the most fulfilling parts of my career—something I never expected when I was performing. Back then, I couldn't have imagined how much joy I'd find in passing on the skills and knowledge I gained through my years of training and performing on stage. Now, it’s incredibly rewarding to see students of all backgrounds and levels flourish. Whether they are young aspiring dancers, seasoned professionals, or adult amateurs, each one brings a unique passion to their learning, and it’s inspiring to help them reach their potential. I particularly love working with adult learners, as they bring such dedication and enthusiasm to their practice. It's amazing to see them embrace the joy of ballet, and I take pride in helping them achieve their personal goals. The chance to teach one-on-one in private classes is something I truly value, as it allows me to provide tailored guidance and mentorship, offering students a more personalized learning experience. While I teach primarily at Zhembrovskyy Ballet Dance Fitness in Amsterdam, my work has taken me all over the world, enriching my perspective on ballet and its global community. Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue sharing my passion for dance and expanding my teaching experiences, especially through Ballet Rising. This platform allows me to make a broader impact, connecting artists, dancers, and communities in ways that transcend traditional boundaries. It’s a journey that inspires me every day, and I look forward to the new opportunities to inspire and guide dancers of all ages and stages. #Ballet #BalletTeacher #Teaching #Passion #Experience #Dance #Arts #Dedication #PerformingArts #BalletClass #Coaching ##DanceInstructor #BalletLife Images by Nina Tonoli & Angela Sterling

?? - https://lnkd.in/ebVQ2wPj Dance is more than just an art form—it is a vital means of communication and connection, especially in communities facing unique challenges. As demonstrated by the Ombetja Yehinga Organisation in Namibia, dance has the power to transcend language barriers and become a tool for public health awareness and social change. This speaks to the broader impact of dance beyond performance—it is integral in fostering understanding, empathy, and unity across diverse populations. Supporting dance is an investment in a society that values not only cultural expression but also education, well-being, and resilience. Just as OYO uses dance to tackle public health issues like HIV, gender-based violence, and COVID-19, we must continue to advocate for policies that sustain and nurture the dance community worldwide. A thriving dance sector contributes not only to a vibrant cultural landscape but also to a more informed, healthier, and economically robust society. #FundArts #Dance #NEA #artsgrants #danceorganizations #Arts #PerformingArts #Culture

More than 100 National Endowment for the Arts grants to dance organizations remain in limbo this week after President Trump’s administration said it would conduct a review of previously allocated federal aid. Last Wednesday, the administration rescinded a controversial memo that froze all grant funding, and judges have already ruled in favor of states that have protested delays in federal pay-outs. But court challenges may drag on for months, other executive orders prohibiting money from being spent in ways that run counter to Trump’s ideological priorities remain in effect, and the NEA itself cannot guarantee that promised money will be dispersed. “The National Endowment for the Arts continues to review the recent executive orders and related documents to ensure compliance and provide the required reporting,” assistant director of public affairs Liz Auclair wrote in an email to Dance Magazine. At Ballet Rising, we believe that dance is far more than just an art form—it’s a transformative force that enriches lives and communities in ways that extend beyond the stage. As our Why Dance? article highlights, dance is a vital tool for social unity, fostering inclusivity and connection. It also serves as a powerful educational platform, equipping individuals with critical life skills like discipline, creativity, and adaptability. Beyond its cultural impact, the dance industry contributes to the economy by creating jobs, attracting tourism, and driving innovation. As we face uncertainty regarding NEA funding, it’s important to remember that supporting dance is not only a support for the arts but an investment in our collective well-being. By investing in dance, we’re investing in stronger communities, healthier individuals, and an economy fueled by creativity and innovation. Let’s continue to champion the importance of dance and advocate for the policies that enable its growth, ensuring that the transformative power of dance remains accessible to all. ?? - https://lnkd.in/exRE8kmz #SupportTheArts #DanceForChange #ArtsInclusion #EconomicImpactOfDance #MentalWellBeing #DanceEducation #Ballet

While President Trump has emphasized the importance of a strong economy, it’s essential to recognize that investing in the arts plays a key role in achieving that goal. Arts funding supports thousands of jobs, boosts local economies, and stimulates creativity that drives innovation. Dance, theater, music, and other forms of artistic expression not only enrich our culture but also attract tourism, generate tax revenue, and create vibrant communities that are more economically dynamic. Supporting the arts is an investment in economic growth, fostering a diverse and resilient economy that benefits everyone! #Arts #Dance #Culture #Economy
