Our team would like to thank Madison County Emergency Medical Services for supporting our Unicoi County Hospital team during disaster relief efforts. We also thank Shallow Ford Baptist Church for leading a special blessing as we opened the new clinic on Tuesday. Advanced Urgent Care – Erwin accepts both uninsured and commercially insured patients. Ballad Health Medical Associates has opened a 24/7 advanced urgent care clinic in Unicoi County to continue providing uninterrupted, critical healthcare services to the community. Staffed by Unicoi County Hospital team members and board-certified physicians, the Advanced Urgent Care – Erwin provides services at 800 S. Mohawk Drive, Suite C, across from Unicoi County High School. Advanced Urgent Care – Erwin accepts both uninsured and commercially insured patients, and will treat conditions such as: ?? Animal or insect bites ?? Cold, flu and COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, headache and sore throat ?? Ear and eye infections ?? Sinus infections and strep throat ?? Small cuts, minor burns and skin rashes ?? Sprains and minor bone fractures ?? Upper respiratory infections ?? Urinary tract, pelvic and other minor infections Advanced Urgent Care – Erwin expands access to urgent care services with 24/7 board-certified physician coverage. The Medical Response Unit, which was established in the days following the Hurricane Helene floods, transitioned to the advanced urgent care clinic on Tuesday, Oct. 15. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Holston Valley Medical Center extended a warm welcome to both the patients and team members from Greeneville Community Hospital, which was temporarily evacuated due to water supply issues. Our Holston Valley Medical Center team worked diligently to prepare the unit, ensuring it was ready to accommodate the new arrivals. The local community played a vital role in this effort as well. Several generous individuals donated meals and snacks, and the Kingsport Chamber quickly organized to ensure everyone was well-fed. Greeneville Community Hospital is now fully operational once again, and we remain deeply proud of our team's hard work and dedication in ensuring a smooth transition during such a challenging time. Across the region, Ballad Health team members have been finding ways to serve their communities in the wake of devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. In Southwest Virginia, Bristol Regional Medical Center, Johnston Memorial Hospital, Russell County Hospital and Smyth County Community Hospital team members volunteered at the Food City relief location in Damascus, which is supported by United Way of Southwest Virginia. Volunteers gave out essential items to those affected by the natural disaster. The road to rebuilding will be long, but we’re uplifted by our teams finding ways to help, both inside and outside hospital walls. It's hard for people to comprehend the unknown, and that's what we dealt with." Ballad Health Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alan Levine recounts the unprecedented weather event caused by Hurricane Helene. "The people who were there at [Unicoi County Hospital] were thinking quickly on their feet, keeping us informed, seeking our guidance, and we were communicating with them. I think what you would hear is that the fact we were there, watching and giving them guidance, gave them comfort that they weren't alone. We had the governor of Tennessee, the governor of Virginia, and both state emergency teams behind us, the Virginia State Police, and the Tennessee National Guard. I mean, we were all working together. And the good news is, the story is that people's lives were saved, and the story isn't that anyone died because they didn't." It's great to be home! We welcomed our team members back over the weekend as Greeneville Community Hospital resumed services after temporary suspension due to Hurricane Helene. As of Monday, Oct. 7: ? Greeneville Community Hospital has resumed all services except for elective surgeries. ? Elective surgical services will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 8. ? Emergency surgery is available. ? Inpatient services resumed on Saturday, Oct. 5, and outpatient services, including lab, sleep and radiology, resumed on Monday, Oct. 7. ? The main entrance and the ED entrance are both open. Our region may be facing unprecedented challenges, but our healthcare heroes have stepped up in countless ways and continued to compassionately care for others.
