"[Dr.] Phil Hoffman has been a consistent advocate for the future of student media and the education of students at Ball State. He finds time in his crazy busy life to meet with students who need him and want his thoughts and feedback," Olivia Ground wrote in submitting Dr. Hoffman as a Building Beneficence honoree. Dr. Hoffman is the Assistant Dean of Media and General Manager of BSU Public Media. Through his mentorship, Ground said she has seen firsthand that Dr. Hoffman "can and will bend over backward to help his team." From his leadership in Public Media, which hires student fellows through its Public Media Accelerator program, to his work on the collaborative documentary project "Fleeing to Flyover Country," Dr. Hoffman's impact is felt in the CCIM community and beyond. Looking for information on this year's JDAY+/CCIM+? Today, you'd probably turn to your favorite search engine and type in the name of our conference. Before the 90s, however, attendees didn't have this luxury. In 1990, a search engine called Archie was developed and paved the way for how we currently gather information online. Regardless of if you use Yahoo!, Google, or DuckDuckGo, take advantage of our modern conveniences and navigate your way to JDAY+/CCIM+ registration today! https://lnkd.in/gsa_4RXi

Let's rewind shall we? Back to the 1980s! This decade brought the first commercially released CD player, changing the landscape of popular media. And while the popularity of CDs has resurged, the ever-changing nature of the fields of communication, information, and media has remained consistent. How can you keep up? From the magic he performs in class to engage students and encourage creativity to the magical charm he brings to our community, Ball State University School of Journalism and Strategic Communication's Dr. Tong Li's recognition as the 2025 BSU Institutional Winner of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Outstanding Faculty for Student Success Award is well deserved. His innovative and inclusive teaching practices inspire both his students and other educators, and he has been invited to share his magic-based teaching approach at conferences such as the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) and the Science of Magic Association (SOMA) conferences. Dr. Li has shown a consistent commitment to inclusiveness, equity, and innovation in the classroom and through his research. His publications focus on learning engagement, culturally responsive design, game-based learning, creativity, and social justice oriented design. We are so proud of Dr. Li, and so thankful to have him in CCIM. Congratulations, Dr. Li! https://lnkd.in/gmUCw6gd
