Our Seattle #HowardSWright team is thrilled to announce that the Whatcom Village project has won the Engineering News-Record Northwest 2024 Best Projects – Excellence in Sustainability award! ???? This incredible achievement highlights our team's commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainability in construction and operations. Sustainability was paramount to this four-building development. From day one, we set ambitious sustainability goals, and with innovation and collaboration, we delivered. We also achieved 94% waste diversion through recycling and donations—turning discarded materials into valuable resources. The winning concepts included an AI-driven tool to automatically generate inspection & test plans, to reduce human error and save valuable time and a solution for optimising highways repair scheduling, that could boost productivity by 20%, reduce carbon emissions, and improve road space utilisation. ?? The energy in the room was electric, and the results were nothing short of groundbreaking for the industry. The challenge clearly showed that with big ideas, the right mindset and skills, applied through emerging technologies like AI, the possibilities are limitless. ??
