Providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based resources and training to support staff and student mental health.
关于我们
Balanced Schools provides practical solutions to support staff and student mental health and wellbeing. Underpinned by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Coaching techniques, we provide resources and training to allow education settings to provide mental health and support for everyone, in-house. For staff, we provide support tailored to anyone who works in education, designed to fit in with a busy work life, help support mental health proactively, and provide support for common mental health issues and/or concerns. For students, we provide a range of Handbooks and Intervention Programmes, underpinned by CBT, that are designed to be facilitated by school staff. We also provide comprehensive training on using CBT based resources with students, to improve outcomes when using our (or other) CBT based resources.

We recently came across a fascinating article in Psychology Today about the power of language, especially when it comes to parenting and working with children. It highlights how phrases like "choosing to behave that way" or "choosing not to do it" can be counterproductive and even create barriers to positive change. The research is clear: language has a profound impact on behaviour. When we frame a child's actions as a "choice," it can actually hinder our ability to understand and address the underlying reasons for their behavior. It can also affect our own mindset, making us less empathetic and supportive, and even leading us to personalise the behaviour as if it's intentionally meant to annoy us. This article is a must-read for anyone who works with children, whether you're a parent, teacher, therapist, or caregiver. It offers valuable insights into how our language can shape our interactions and ultimately influence a child's development. We highly recommend checking it out! #parenting #childdevelopment #psychology #language #communication #education https://lnkd.in/edMYmDg2

One questions we frequently get asked about Cognitive Behavioural Therapy based resources is "Are there any side-effects?" One of the many benefits of CBT is that side-effects are rare.?There has been no psychoanalysis involved - if a student doesn’t want to engage, they just won’t engage.?Our resources look at moving forward from where they are, not analysing the past. Sometimes people talk about discomfort and distress being a possible side effect of CBT. This will be true, whenever we try new things we experience discomfort but that is true in anything in life, not just CBT. Part of the CBT process is becoming more resilient and able to manage discomfort.
