Exciting News! The Carnegie Mellon University Cloud Lab has reached a significant milestone, achieving LEED for Commercial Interiors Gold Certification! In collaboration with Strada Architects, our MEP/FP engineering team transformed a former warehouse into a multi-disciplinary automated robotic laboratory. Built to BS-2 standards, it is the world's first university cloud lab and enables users to remotely complete chemistry and life science work from anywhere in the world. #lifesciences #engineers #labs

It was a beautiful day at our annual Bala Wimbledon Tennis + Networking event. Held on the picturesque grass courts of Merion Cricket Club, guests enjoyed an afternoon of friendly competition in our round robin tournament, and the opportunity to build new A/E/C industry relationships. Congrats to our 2024 winners, Michael Bzdak, Daniel Maffa, Dawn Thornton and Alison Kass. This year, to elevate the Wimbledon experience, we introduced a philanthropic raffle in support of Legacy Youth Tennis and Education, a Philadelphia organization dedicated to providing underprivileged youth with access to tennis and life skills development. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, guests and associated Bala match, we were able to raise $5,000! It was a cause for celebration as the new 380,000 SF comprehensive high school for Northeast Metro Tech reached its topping-off milestone in Wakefield, MA. Our team is providing MEP/FP engineering and Energy Modeling services. Engineers Sean Sullivan, P.E. and Zachary M. Barrett, PE were present to mark this significant achievement. The state-of-the-art school will cater to both academic and vocational programs, offering 21st-century learning environments, shop and technical lab space, expanded program offerings, a full-size gym, and a large multipurpose space. With a focus on sustainability, the project is targeting LEED certification through energy-efficient all electric mechanical and plumbing systems, a 360 kW photovoltaic array, and high performing building envelope. Bala is proud to contribute our expertise for this exciting project, working alongside DRA (Drummey Rosane Anderson, Inc.) to create a modern and sustainable learning environment for future Metro Tech students. #education #Boston #sustainability #newschool
