关于我们
The Greater Bakersfield Chamber is a member-driven and professionally staffed not-for-profit association of business people committed to improving the economic climate and quality of life in the greater Bakersfield area. The Chamber's strength lies in its membership. With a solid base of more than 1,100 members representing 70,000 employees, the Chamber is representative of all sizes and types of business. Corporate giants are represented, but over 85 percent of the Chamber's membership is made up of small businesses (classified as 10 employees or less). Chamber members are bankers and beauticians, communications consultants and caterers. Members have varied interests and concerns, and underlying all is the common desire to improve the local business environment and enhance the socio-economic and cultural well-being of our community. The Chamber is organized to focus attention and initiate private sector action on the major issues affecting the economic well-being and quality of life in the area. The Chamber is supported entirely by its membership and receives no government funding or contracts. The policies and programs of the Chamber are determined by its membership through the Board of Directors. They, in turn, select a paid full-time chief executive whose basic function is to organize and execute the Chamber's program of work. The chief executive assembles a professional staff to assist in supporting the membership.

This week, we closed out the year with our inaugural Friendsgiving Ambassador Meeting—a perfect way to celebrate our amazing Chamber family! We shared a delicious meal crafted by NV Catering, one that would surely have made the first settlers proud. A huge thank you to our 2024 Ambassador Chair, Terri Agcaoili (Director of Marketing/Business Development at the California Neurology Institute), and our Community Events Manager, Kim Price, for leading the charge in such an impactful first year. Your dedication and passion for this program shine bright! We missed our 2025 Chair, Blade Griffin (Bakersfield Condors), but we know he’s ready to step into some big shoes next year – and we can't wait to see his leadership in action. The outpouring of gratitude and love within this group was truly heartwarming. It’s a testament to the trust and outstanding efforts of our volunteers and staff throughout the year. To our amazing ambassadors, Chamber members and the Greater Bakersfield community – we are so thankful for you. As we approach the holidays, let’s all remember to be gentle with ourselves and embrace grace during this season of giving. Quick reminders: ?? Ambassadors were invited to a friendly end-of-year drawing to waive their 2025 membership dues. If you know, you know! ?? ?? Official Ambassador Pins are now available – wear them with pride! ?? Interested in joining us next year? Reach out to Kim Price at [email protected] to learn more about getting involved in 2025. Have a blessed Thanksgiving! ?? And remember: You can always sit with us. ?? #ThankfulThursday #ChamberLife #BakoChamber #Friendsgiving2024 #AmbassadorCommittee @nv_catering

Today, Chamber members got the inside scoop on recent changes to California's Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) law with Daniel Klingenberger of LeBeau Thelen. The forum offered an essential update on the revised PAGA statute and its impact on Kern County employers, who face significant financial challenges due to ongoing lawsuits. Daniel covered key updates to the law, critical wage and hour compliance, and strategies to help employers better protect their businesses. Members walked away with practical insights for navigating these legal changes, improving workplace practices, and managing compliance and risk. PAGA Basics: ? An employee can bring a PAGA claim after sending notice to the LWDA, which has 60 days to decide if it will prosecute (though it rarely does). ? After 65 days, employees may file lawsuits to recover penalties under the Labor Code. ? PAGA allows employees to pursue a broad range of Labor Code violations but does not cover actual unpaid wages (those require individual or class action). Our Labor Law & HR Forum is invaluable for employers adapting to new regulations—today’s event equipped them with the knowledge to stay ahead and protect their organizations. Thanks to everyone who attended! You can learn more with LeBeau Thelen at https://lnkd.in/gEf9NHjM (link in bio).
