Namibia is primed to become the next hub for oil and gas production in Africa, and yesterday we hosted government, community and industry leaders in Walvis Bay to inaugurate our newest facilities in the country. Our liquid mud plant—Namibia’s largest in terms of volume and capacity—and cement bulk facility are strategically located at the Port of Walvis Bay, providing a consistent, local source of materials close to the country’s offshore fields. Our integrated multi-modal facility in the city will house advanced testing and maintenance equipment to support a variety of subsea operations. This enhanced presence will also create more localization opportunities that stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen Namibia’s energy supply chain. We look forward to supporting our customers and the nation of Namibia as they create a thriving energy sector. Did you know that trees can help combat climate change? ?? This is because forests can absorb 16 billion metric tonnes of CO? per year*. Today on World Tree Day, we celebrate the incredible impact trees have on our planet. From absorbing CO? and producing oxygen to providing habitats for wildlife and improving our urban environments, trees are essential to our collective future. We are proud to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to sustainability and support initiatives that promote global reforestation and a healthier planet for future generations, like our partnership with One Tree Planted. Earlier this year, the Baker Hughes Foundation announced another grant to One Tree Planted to help support urban forestry development for communities in need. Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) is a critical solution to help meet the Paris Climate Agreement goals and to achieve decarbonization of hard-to-abate industries. Currently, the market is still maturing and evolving. We're committed to investing today in the carbon capture and storage solutions of tomorrow. One way we're working to improve CCUS operations is by delivering comprehensive Measurement, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MMRV) plans that identify potential risks early and address them proactively before they become critical. This end-to-end approach optimizes CO2 management across the entire CCUS value chain by streamlining regulatory compliance through risk mitigation and operational efficiency. This is one of many ways we are driving adoption of new energy production and leading the energy transition. To meet growing, global demand for lower carbon energy, our geothermal experts are collaborating with various companies through the Wells2Watts Consortium. This is a private industrial partnership we manage with global oil and gas leaders to support their goals in assessing geothermal technology, and we are thrilled to welcome Woodside Energy to this initiative. Wells2Watts members recently completed testing of a closed-loop system this past year in Oklahoma City. The next phase of the consortium is to deploy next-generation Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) and Advanced Geothermal Systems (AGS). Together, we are working to pinpoint locations to pilot these new solutions where oil and gas are traditionally produced to generate geothermal energy. Woodside Energy aspires to thrive through the energy transition with a low cost, lower carbon, profitable, resilient and diversified portfolio. The success of this consortium and our members to deploy this system will collectively make geothermal energy production more accessible, safer, and efficient for the future in new areas where geothermal hasn’t been developed before. ?? Members include: Expand Energy, Continental Resources, INPEX Corporation, and California Resources Corporation Learn more about geothermal solutions here: https://lnkd.in/g5aRnvi5 #Geothermal #GeothermalEnergy #EnergyTransition #WeAreBakerHughes

We’re proud to announce that the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has awarded us a contract to help abate downstream emissions and significantly reduce flaring at the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, using our innovative flare gas?recovery and?hydrogen sulfide (H2S) removal system. The contract was signed today at COP29 Azerbaijan by our Chairman and CEO, Lorenzo Simonelli, and President of SOCAR, Rovshan Najaf. Highlights include: ?? Baker Hughes’ solution will help abate methane and sulfur emissions at the SOCAR site – two of the most potent greenhouse gas emissions ?? The project is expected to recover flare gas equivalent up to 7 million Nm3 of methane per year, and further reduce CO2 emissions by up to 11,000 tons per year ?? This system will enable SOCAR to use the recovered gas, which would have previously been flared, as fuel for the refinery, improving efficiency and reducing consumption and operating costs We must reduce emissions by 45% this decade to put us on the right path to reach net zero by 2050. The industry has an imperative to act now, and we can do it with existing technology solutions that can be deployed today. The project is a tangible step toward ending routine flaring by 2030 at SOCAR’s site, using innovative applications of our existing and field-proven emissions abatement technologies.
