More applause for our team in Denver, which brought home an Award of Merit from ENR Mountain States for the One River North project. Located in the heart of Denver, CO, One River North is unlike any other structure in the city– or the U.S., for that matter. The 16-story mixed-use development features a 10-story canyon cut vertically and horizontally across the structure’s fa?ade. Defined by wavy, organic shapes, the canyon includes a landscaped walkway, water features, and native plantings. Bringing the many elements together demanded an exceptional level of planning and coordination between project partners. The Baker project team pulled in our building information modeling and virtual design and construction specialists during preconstruction to assist with the planning process. In addition to building a virtual model of the project, the team printed a 3D static model of the structure to better understand the intricacies of the canyon. Because the shape of the cutout varies by floor, the 3D model made it easier to visualize the shoring requirements at the leave-out areas.
