Carmen is moving on to a position as Assistant Building Manager / Safety Coordinator for the Division of Biological Sciences in the College of Letters and Science. So great to see everyone's enthusiasm last Friday at the BCH launch. We're learning what's most important to support and we welcome your input on new technologies and resources.
Amid all the noise of national politics and global conflict, climate change continues to accelerate. Who is doing something about it? We are. Would you like to join us? The Bakar ClimatEnginuity Hub, a new incubator and innovation center at University of California, Berkeley, will open its doors to climate tech entrepreneurs... in 2028. It takes that long to clear space, construct the facility, and build it out with equipment. But we all know the planet is getting warmer by the day. That is why last Friday we brought together the climate tech community from #UCBerkeley, Berkeley Lab, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory at Bakar Labs in an inaugural launch event for BCH -- at which we announced QB3's pilot programs for climate tech entrepreneurs. In partnership with Activate Berkeley, its managing director Jill Fuss, and the wider national Activate organization, we'll be providing resources and lab space to ambitious, motivated climate tech entrepreneurs. We're going to build huge momentum so when BCH opens its doors we'll have way too many exciting, fundable, indispensable technologies to accommodate -- we'll have to build another incubator! The technologies we support will be commercially promising -- you gotta make something people want. And these technologies need to create opportunities and be accessible to everyone all.
