Large 4140 part from start to finish. 5" thick, 21" diameter 4140 material. Started off in our old Proeba Lathe and finished in our Haas VF3YT/50. We had 2 of these we made. A lot of work into these parts. Bain Machine we leverage our manual machines and CNC machines to complete parts with the help of our awesome machinists. The number of Shops willing to take on larger turning and complex milling for one part is dwindling, especially at low quantities. We love this work and lean into it. We continue to on board new customers who have struggled to find great machining partners who are willing to take on the hard work at low quantities. We lean into this type of work. Vessels with complex machined features and high polish. I was walking someone through every operation and step to complete this type of project and they were a little stunned. When you see something shiny it definitely draws your attention in. And if it's not large many think it's simple, not complex, but nothing is as easy as it seems. Starting with DFAR compliant material to the internal threading to special welding and then high polish...don't forget all the turning and milling to meet very tight flatness and parallelism requirements. Bain Machine manufacture's a diverse set of parts. What you see here is one order. Our customers appreciate just sending over 10 to 15 drawings knowing we can quote it all with confidence. Buyers appreciate just cutting 1 PO versus 5 and having to manage all those suppliers. We continue you takimg on one offs and low quantities. We can do this by using well maintained manual machines with very talented machinist's operating them.

Bain Machine continually works on finding its niche in the industry. Customer keep telling us Shops are shying away from one off, prototypes, and low quantity runs. Shops are even more cautious with custom weldment assemblies. There are lots of reasons for this. Keep on the lookout for my next video about this very topic. However we keep leaning into this type of work. Once we complete these types of project in a timely fashion and on budget it opens us up to lots of other work very quickly. Personally, I have been involved with highly custom engineer projects my whole career. Our facility is 10,000 sq. ft. with a 3 ton overhead crane (3) 1/2 ton jib cranes; along with (1) dock door & (2) bay doors. We focus on keeping our overhead very low and dedicating our space to producing parts.
