It has been a pleasure providing support to the Chester County Solid Waste Authority on this project and others over the years.
?? Construction Underway at the Lanchester Landfill ?? At the Chester County Solid Waste Authority, we are making progress in our latest construction project. In this video, our onsite contractor, Kinsley Construction, is uncovering an existing final capping system installed back in the 1990s. Over the years, we've developed an intricate network of landfill gas pipes and collectors, which are only inches beneath the surface. To ensure these vital systems remain intact and operational, our contractor is carefully excavating around these pipes, marking them to prevent any potential hits. This proactive approach helps maintain the efficiency of our gas collection systems and avoid unnecessary shutdowns. As the pipes are exposed, dozers are hard at work, pushing and gathering topsoil into local stockpiles. This topsoil will be repurposed to sustain the lush, green slopes at the Lanchester Landfill. But this is just the beginning! In the coming weeks, we’ll be digging even deeper to expose the existing capping system, all in preparation for installing a brand new landfill liner system. This project will cover approximately 15 acres, providing us with nearly 5 more years of airspace. A special thanks to ARM Group for their design consulting services and to BAI Group for their construction quality assurance monitoring on the project! #Sustainability #LandfillManagement #Construction #EnvironmentalStewardship #OperationalExcellence
